Object Draw Distance

Object draw distance appears to be half of what it was before SU5 and after both hotfixes.

I have custom skyscraper and powerplant objects that were designed to be seen from 40-50km away and prior to SU5, you could see them almost at the horizon with clear skies.

After SU5, the objects pop-in at 15-20km away and it’s very noticeable and kinda defeats the purpose of building key VFR landmarks that can be seen from long distances.

This is happening with simObjects placed as airport scenery as well - for example, the C152 is clearly using a very low LOD until you’re extremely close to it. The LOD switch is distracting.

This wasn’t an issue before SU5, and changing Terrain / Objects LOD sliders in game settings seems to have no effect. Also, editing the UserCfg.opt files seems to have no effect either.

Do you have any add-ons in your Community folder? If yes, please remove and retest before posting.
Tested with only my scenery in Community folder. Issue affects default simObjects as well, with no addons.

Are you using Developer Mode or made changes in it?
Not for testing.

Custom Object Draw Distance ( prior to SU5 - you’d see these objects from + 40-50 km )

LOD swapping on C152 simObject ( game appears to cycle between 3 LODS within 50m distance )

If you are using custom software or add-ons expect issues.

Until it’s been updated or fixed.

I don’t use extras much at all for this reason alone.

Good luck

it needs to be bugged and reported, so it can be fixed. hence the post.

simobjects are default - and they’re clearly showing an issue.

Ah okay yep makes sense.
