During the Global Presentation video, Jorg talks about Aerial-Vexcel data acquired by the MSFS (timestamp: 1:00:38). We can see a World map of it for a brief moment. For those who donāt know, this is the data creating the amazing Grand Canyon in MSFS2024.
In the future, will we be able to easily identify which part of the world has it in the Sim? It would be nice to see this information somewhere as I would prefer to prioritize flying my flying in those zones!
Thank you for finally posting this presentation. I suppose it wasnāt given earlier in order to give time for the YouTubers to provide their own content, but really itās so much better seeing reliable information directly from the source rather than getting second hand info with the inevitable omissions, errors, and misunderstandings.
Those new VTOL aircraft are amazing.
It feels like everything is about to change. A huge Star Trek like jump forward.
I think I still want a gas tank backup if there is no EM Harvesting tech built in.
The Global Event.
Kind of a tough crowd at the start it seems. But they got into it! Rightly so. Youāre in a room among people doing things that have never been done before. Things that no other sim/game developer on Earth is doing. And. Youāre an elite small group getting to bask in that.
It was nice basking in the replay.
It answered things I missed or did not see in the Alpha test weekend. Especially visualization of Sids and Stars.
I felt silly for having doubts or for having missed that.
Love the Skyvector like planning.
Love the particle physics
Loved hearing about more FIRSTS for MS/Asobo/Partners/Community Creators:
No mention of other SIMMING like: Fishing, Camping, Treasure Hunts. Expanding simming in Digital Twin. Iāve got the Campout Utility and now need something for my avatar to do beside sit there, drink Coors and snap photos of critters. heh
And. Where is the MS GOLF multi-player DLC for MSFS? āGet there!ā
Cheers & Best!
Id like to see a map of the areas covered in that Vexcel Data. I saw southwestern Michigan had a box, but I cant imagine whats there. the Dunes are further north, in Michigan and Dunes in Indiana are further south than the box. Hmmmmm
I hope I am asking this question in the appropriate area. Thank you in advance for your help.
I originally purchased MSFS 2020 Premium Deluxe.
I see some of the planes Iāve already purchased in 2020 ver. (added on Beechcraft V-tail, Stratoliner 307) are in the Aviator top tier. Now I have to buy the top tier to keep them? Will I lose those along with all the Carenado planes and the Bandierate, or Pilatus?
Also, because I originally purchased 2020 Premium will I lose all those 2020 Premium planes that were available to me If I by the 2024 Standard version?
Oh, and the PMDG DC 6 I purchased as an addon and the operation center?
Seems like I would lose a lot?
Iām stumped what to do.
Thanks for the help
Mike
No, with a caveat.
Most, if not all, of your current aircraft should work just fine when imported into the new sim.
Some third party aircraft (such as PMDG, etc.) may charge a fee to update them to the new simās standards.
Any aircraft that you have that were developed by, or for MS/Asobo (such as those you mentioned) will be updated free of charge.
You will not lose those you already own.
Wow, we are under 30 days, super excited
Just a random musing:
I wonder if the worldās ISPs are aware of what is about to happen to their networks on November 19th. Have they been officially notified by MS/Asobo that perhaps one of the yearās greatest āDOSā attacks is imminent so that they can consider implementing whatever protocols for these anomalies might be?
I am quite sure there are millions world-wide with their fingers on the trigger!
The new download is pretty small, at least in comparison to before.
Sorry, but in comparison to daily streaming and social media traffic, MSFS isnāt even a spec of dust when it comes to traffic ā¦
Even when millions āpull the triggerā at the same time - MSFS is really a very small corner in the vast ocean called internet - the ISP would not even notice the launch ā¦
And why should this be a problem for MSFS with a download of under 50GB (around 27GB if I remember correctly) and maybe 2 million (best case scenario) users the first week, and not for the newest AAA titles weighting over 150GB and tens of millions of userā¦
Thank you for your knowledgeable reassurance. I was hoping that someone might step in with a better perspective than mine. Truly!
Iāll sleep better tonight!
Yes, I believe around 23G is what I saw in one of the on-line developer interviews recently. Of course a consequence might be that the in-game play could possibly introduce a greater constant network load overall than just the one-time downloads might have. Just speculating hereā¦
Of course we havenāt even discussed the initial loads on the MS serversā¦ Hopefully Microsoft/Asobo have!
It still might be a good idea to wait a couple of days before pulling that download trigger.
