I got the Oculus Quest 2 the other day, and what I thought would be a seamless transition to VR, has been surprisingly the opposite. I have read through a lot of forums, and everything I could for a few days now, and still cannot find a solution.
First off my system specs:
Windows 11 Home
AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 6-Core Processor
AMD Radeon RX 6500 X
32GB Memory
512GB SSD / 2TB HDD
My system is up to date, as well as the head set. I bought the Virtual desktop for the Oculus. I have the the Mixed Reality Portal, Open Xr, and also open up the Oculus debug tool as I’ve read in other places. I feel with all of this stuff, I went from MSFS saying “No headset detected”, and I thought I was there!
But this new error message of “Your GPU doesn’t match the requirements, please verify the GPU you are using microsoft flight simulator 2020 vr”, has me absolutely puzzled.
I’ve gone into the settings, gaming, and made sure MSFS was on “High Performance”. I have also put the Oculus into Beta mode. Everything I have tried still gives me the error message that my GPU doesn’t match the requirements.
Any and all help is appreciated, and I’m hoping I am missing some stupid step… thank you.
It might be in the sense your monitor might be hooked up to onboard graphics
After doing some research your card is equivalent to a 1650 ti super, Probably a RX570 type deal with vram…you might need to upgrade
I would not try VR with an RX6500XT.
I have an RX6800XT and it’s just barely good enough to consistently get me over 30fps on a Reverb G2. I need to downscale with Open XR Toolkit to get into the 40’s.
Sorry to say I’d recommend Nvidia at this point, probably at a minimum an RTX3080, but try to go higher if VR is your primary playing style.
Wow thats disappointing to hear. I was very excited to play in VR, and my computer is only a year old. Thanks for the info
Thanks for the info. Bummed it wont work for my setup.
You can probably do it with a 3060ti if your lucky
How do I find out which graphics cards work with the oculus?
Basic google search or look at others vr setups, maybe a 3080 ti
Hi,
Here’s a link from meta outlining system requirements and compatible graphics cards:
https://www.meta.com/en-gb/help/quest/articles/headsets-and-accessories/oculus-link/meta-quest-link-compatibility/
This is for link & airlink configuration. The website says a 6500X is not recommended.
RE: virtual desktop - it may offer a work around (it may not). To try, install steam VR if you don’t already have it and set it to be the default openxr platform (you don’t need the mixed reality portal - it’s for headsets like the reverb g2). If you’re unsure how to do this, happy to help.
Then, load up virtual desktop on the Quest 2, connect to your PC and try MSFS.
Cheers
