Oculus CV1 and World Update 16?

Brief description of the issue:

I’ve been using MSFS with an Oculus CV1 for some time. Just a few days ago - I started getting an error in the Oculus software “Oculus has detected an error in your graphics drivers” and has refused to work ever since.

Now… I’ve tried the obvious – removing/reinstalling gfx drivers. Removing/reinstalling oculus drivers. But without any change. But… on one attempt I was able to use the oculus once only to play a vr video… but the moment I fired up MSFS… the error reoccured.

Then I had a thought. Before this error showed up, there had been no gfx driver updates, or oculus updates or windows updates. So nothing had changed that might cause a new error to occur… except… we DID get World Update 16.

Could World Update 16 be causing the problem?

I’ll try to remember to give my CV1 a go when I get home in the next couple of days (unless there’s a wealth of other feedback confirming the issue one way or another)

I use my CV1 all the time and have not had any issues.

However I have not yet flown in the areas covered by WU16

My CV1 seems fine in MSFS - Nvidia 546.01 - Meta Quest (eurgh!) updated 9 days ago (I never have an option other than to keep it up to date). I’m in the MSFS Beta release and have all WUs installed.
I suspect that @Glenlivet4me (I’m coincidentally sipping a glass of ‘The Glenlivet’ ) would have also had problems regardless of visiting the new area, or not, if it was a general driver issue for all. Sorry, I can’t think what to suggest, other than the fact that I start MSFS in 2D from Steam and then kick in VR once it’s booted

I’ve updated to Nvidia driver 551.52 and now running the current Beta. Normally I sit out the betas but with all the hype around the memory improvements and stutter reduction I had to jump in this time. So far, No issues with the CV1. I think I’m getting the best experience I’ve ever had in the sim.

To be fair, I feel like I did already notice some stutter improvement from the current Nvidia driver before the beta… but the combination seems to be really working well.

The CV1 is definitely limited by its resolution… but the fact that it is an OLED display (love those inky black night flights) and it runs on my older system without me having had to update it, I feel lucky to get to experience the impressive immersion that is VR.

I don’t think I can ever go back. Eventually will have to build a new system with a newer VR headset… but not yet.

I’m running an RTX2060S and an i5-9600K - it’s ok in VR, but can be a challenge - is your system much ‘better’? (if not then do you have any tips?)

I should have probably qualified my response as my VR experience is acceptable to me (probably agree with your “ok in VR”… but for me it’s enough to give me the immersion). Of course, a CV1 with an older system is going to be limiting. I am sure that in comparison a lot of people out there would find it absolutely unacceptable. Seems like people with 4090s with latest gen processors and headsets are still complaining.

Anyways… my system is a i7-4790K with a 3060. I use the Oculus Tray Tool and the OpenXR Toolkit.

If you would like further information on my configuration perhaps we can take it offline.

That’s enough ‘reference’ info for me, thanks
