Sorry if this partly off topic, but do you think Virtual Desktop might work better? Is Virtual Desktop more stable than the link cable in general, or is the wifi setup a whole new can of worms? I’ve been watching from the sidelines and thinking about getting a Quest 2, but posts like this make me really squeamish, especially after I got a bad G2.
My link would drop out because the cable was worn and even the smallest cross movement and the link dropped, took a while to find it as you always look for the most complex issue when sometimes it’s a basic problem, new cable and solved
Hello,
got exactly same issue since sim update 3, back to menu=disconnected.
And happens sometimes during flight (a week ago it was impossible to play).
I am sure it is not the cable, because it happens only with FS2020.
I noticed something though, in rogue squadron, pushing all render cursors to 200% (unplayable !) leads to same issue. So I imagine it is a problem of datarate (sorry don’t know if it’s the right term).
Would love to see if this has been solved by anyone , having the same issue, either when trying to start vr or when exiting it seems that link drops out and I’m sent back to the main screen until it asks if I would like to connect to my PC again, do this a few times until it works, If I use the steam runtime this doesn’t happen but the game seems to run differently
FWIW - I was getting disconnects but they were random and not tied to going to to a menu and it wasn’t just FS it was racing sims as well. That said, I have solved the issue by going with a powered USB hub. Of course I had to buy a USB A to C adapter as well in order to plug into the hub.
I have the official Oculus cable and it “was” plugged into a USB C port in the back of my GPU. Did some research and found that that could lead to intermitent power flow which could cause the disconnects. The powered hub also keeps the Quest 2 fully charged when playing which is really nice.
I’ve had ZERO disconnects since using the powered hub since I bought it 3 weeks ago.
