Oculus Quest 2 for Flight Sim 20 and DCS

Hi and a nice weekend to you all

A friend of mine has recommended the following headset to me today for 3D VR flying, the “Oculus Quest 2 64 GB” (he works in a computer store and he would make a nice price of 350€ for me).

He described it as a 1080p 90FPS headset with two very good virtual hand controllers - can this headset be fully and unlimited used for Flight Simulator 20 and DCS Combat Flight Simulator?
Is this the perfect headset for flying?

Are the two controllers functioning properly to interact with the 3D-cockpit around me while having this headset on?
From other VR sets I know that sometimes the virtual hands twitch and wobble like crazy because of bad controller tracking - how stable are the controllers of the Quest 2?

Oh and it´s not strictly limited to flying and driving, of course I´d like to play some VR games sometimes too, for example “Robinson the Journey” or “Time machine”

It’s fine for both flight games. I use it myself.

The controllers don’t work (currently) in FS, and an implementation will come at some point.

The clarity is not there yet for FS, but it’s great in other games.

Very easy to set up and I recommend it.

Yes, it´s a very good compromise and works well in MSFS (despite the controllers). I use them after frustrating problems with the g2 (which had endless connection errors).
If you buy it, I recommend another headstrip - the original one is not the best . And you need a USB3-cable, which is not included

I have one and didn’t even know it could be used. So I got the Xbox series x instead of gaming PC

To be honest, I’d go for something else. While the Q2 works great as a standalone HMD, I have seen soooo many people complaining about issues with it in games that require it to be linked to a PC. I know some currently owners are likely to jump on me with the “works fine for me” response, but do your research, especially on simulator forums. You’ll find the Q2 among the most complained about HMDs.

I know it’s a good price, but personally I would go for a headset that is geared towards being a dedicated PC-connected VR system, rather than one primarily designed to be standalone. You’ll probably be glad in the long run.
