Regarding (Oculus) Meta Quest 2 - This requires a wireless internet connection.
Does the unit itself connect directly to the internet? - OR
Is the the PC machine itself? - That could use a wireless PCI-e LAN card? - And this connects to the internet as long as the WI-FI key is known - Is this how it would be done?
RJ-45 PCI-e LAN cards can also be used which are not wireless but still connect directly to the internet HUB - Would these work equally well?
I’m not asking about any other aspects of this headset - as it is just the wireless internet connection system requirement I’m asking about.
Facebook is also needed - No explanation is needed here - Thanks
It connects to a wireless router that your computer needs to be connect to as well. FS 2020 will need an internet connection, but the Q2’s don’t give a hoot about it.
I’m pretty sure you can’t connect to a wireless PCI card unless it can act as an access point. But I’m not positive about that.
But, as for your internet question…I’m not even logged on with my Facebook account on my Q2s anymore. I get a screen that requests it, but I pay no attention and just start the “Airlink” app and go flying.
I’m not sure if a Facebook account is required anymore.
Quest 2 actually are developing their own application to log in with them instead of Facebook - It’ll be OK.
When a PC connects to internet it is usually wired (RJ45 ethernet cable) or if the motherboard has
wi-fi built into it then connection is possible with WI-FI router key
I prefer the wired approach even though my hub is WI-FI -
