Oculus Quest2 and Virtual Desktop

Hi,

I have been using Oculus Air Link for a while and it works quite allright if I always remember to tweak it with Oculus Tray tool first (to get rid of stuttering).

I had a discount coupon to Oculus Store, so I bought Virtual Desktop and I am trying to use it with MSFS 2020 for the first time. I just can’t get the connection to work in 3D. I have disabled Oculus Air link, of course.

I see MSFS in Virtual Desktop on 2D, but when I press ctrl+tab to switch 3D I get error

Openxr is installed for sure. I am using Microsoft Store version of MSFS 2020.

What should I do to enable 3D VR in Virtual Desktop?

you have to install steam VR. No matter where you got your MSFS from, for Virtual Desktop you need SteamVR.

I was annoyed at first, that I have to install and register Steam for it, but it works so good, I am now happy with it…

I have Steam and SteamVR. Although it is running, I get the same error. Is it because my MSFS 2020 is non-steam version from MS Store?

I am on the MS Store version too.

I followed this video:

to set it up and it works just fine.

Thanks! Apparently all I needed to do was to reboot PC after installing Virtual Desktop streamer app. After reboot, SteamVR started to work with MSFS 2020. I noticed that OpenXR toolkit companion app did not work well, though. Maybe it is not needed with Virtual Desktop? I need to check the Virtual Desktop settings to get optimal performance! “Iron” is quite good, RTX3080 Ti, Ryzen 5950X and 64Gb RAM.

Open XR Toolkit should work without issue.

When I was using it, I tweaked for high bandwidth and set other settings for low latency. Which should work great if you have a good router.
