Yay, group flights are back! Unfortunately, it was a bit cloudy during the middle of the flight so not a lot of photos from that.

Quick question. Why is that official group flight only seem to happen on weekdays during the day when most are at work? I’d love to participate but everytime I see an official group flight it’s in the middle of my work day

Nice flight as usual, and my first time flying the Cessna Corvalis, which I like a lot.

Hello @wcc96387,

We have a global playerbase, not just North/South America. What is your working hours are evening, night, or morning for other people in different regions.

We selected the time for Community Fly-In Friday very carefully so the maximum number of people can participate. The current time is evening hours for Europe and Africa, morning for Oceania, and daytime for North/South America. Unfortunately it’s nighttime hours for much of Asia, but there’s no one time that is suitable for everyone. With the selected time, it’s at least non-sleeping hours for most of the MSFS player community.

Thanks,
MSFS Team

I understood that it was most likely timed to try and cover a large swath of players… can I suggest doing official events on weekends? this was time frame isn’t as large of an issue? a Sunday at 2pm here on the east coast US wouldn’t be a problem and it would allow an even larger player base to participate

2AM Sunday US East Coast time is 3AM Monday morning where I live, 4AM Monday in Japan, 6AM Monday Australian EDT, 8AM Monday NZDT. The current time doesn’t suit me much either (3AM Saturday isn’t a lot of fun) but I accept that thought has been put into it and the best compromise selected. There’s also the issue of hosts doing this as part of their job, so expecting them to work on weekends for it might be a bit much.

Doing occasional events at different hours seems like a reasonable option IMO, otherwise there are other community-organised fly-in events listed in the forums at all sorts of times.

(sorry, 2PM US EST that should be)

It’s also worth mentioning that these flights are hosted by a Microsoft employee and, as such, need to take place during their working hours.

Hello

I was going to try this last night, but I am not sure how it works for someone who does not have VATSIM or use ingame voice?

Can someone explain how the events work please?

Keith P

All the info should be in the first post.
You simply show up at the right time and place (see first post), you can follow the group or load the flight plan provided in the 1st post.
You can join the discord livechat and watch the twitch stream as well, if you want.

You don’t need VATSIM or ingame voicechat (do we even have that?).

Ok cheers. In real life you dont have plane to plane coms (At least in the UK) so I would not expect to have it here either, I didnt know if you had to use ‘human’ atc - such as VATSIM. So in essence it is just like a real fly in, you meet, have a chat fly, have a coffee or tea and fly back.

Sounds good. I will try next time.

Thanks.

Keith
