FLIGHT DETAILS

We’re off to the South Pacific this week for backcountry bush flying in Papua New Guinea! Hop into your favorite bush plane and prepare for some breathtaking views and challenging landings as we fly over the rainforests of this island nation!

We’ll start at the capital city of Port Moresby and then head on a generally northwesterly heading until we arrive at our full stop destination of Goroka. En route, we’ll attempt multiple touch & go landings at remote grass/dirt airstrips!

MSFS (2020) and MSFS 2024 Pilots on PC can download the .pln file here:
2025-07-11 Papua New Guinea.PLN (3.0 KB)

You can find instructions on how to load a flight plan from the Flight Planner website to your in-sim EFB on your PC or Xbox console on our forums here.

Is anyone flying in the SU3 beta today? Last time, it was pretty lonely. I’m thinking about switching to SU2 right now…

I’m on SU3, there were a couple of others last time. Think I saw you as well. Be sure to set your multiplayer server in settings to “south east asia” and in the flight conditions to “all players” not “live players”.

I’ll either be flying the Kodiak or the Spitfire.

Hey @IceManDBB,
of course I know how to configure the multiplayer settings.
I saw you last time too — just like so many times before. It’s always great to see those familiar names pop up again. It would just be nice if there were a few more of us. Somehow, flying together in a big cloud makes it even more fun.

Had some problems with loading the Flight plan into the Kodiaks avionics. Seemed to have left out some of the in between touch-'n-gos.

Cause we were earlier than the stream, I took out the Spitfire for a quick round:

Some amazing scenery this week. I started off at dawn and flew with live weather turned on and most of the flight coming into the first airstrip was flown above the clouds but after that the clouds broke up nicely and I got some amazing shots.

Are you flying in VR here?

Yes, with Quest 3 and Virtual Desktop’s VR streaming.

A very fun community flight with some nice landing challenges! Looking forward to next week’s Oshkosh

Nice - it looked almost as if the Asobo EFB was physically modeled in the Kodiak cabin which threw me for a loop so I thought must be VR.

Yeah, I pulled it up, cause for some reason the loaded flight plan in the avioncs didn’t match the flight plan in the EFB. Only realized halfway through, that people where flying somewhere off and on stream they landed on airports that weren’t in my avionics flight plan.
Was kinda weird.

Kodiak would be the 2020 avionics so I always expect an extra degree of funkiness in there. Great plane though, hope it gets updated for 2024.

Yes, hope so as well. Would probably even pay for an upgrade.

It was nice to join the fly-in last Friday after missing the events of the last couple of weeks. I was late so I took off from the second touch-and-go’s airstrip. I am not a big bush flier but really enjoyed this one with the nice scenery.
