[Official] Community Fly-In Friday: Solomon Islands

We will be hosting an Official Fly-in alongside a group of community members (you!) on Twitch. This is an open event, free to all who would like to fly along with us and available to pilots of all skill levels. The goal is to have a great time, explore new locations of the world, and make new friends. This event is open to pilots on both the PC and Xbox platforms.

FLIGHT DETAILS

July 7 is Solomon Islands Independence Day! In recognition of this South Pacific archipelago becoming a sovereign nation in 1978, our Community Fly-In this week will be a tour of several of the islands, including San Cristobal, Guadalcanal, and New Georgia, including a touch & go landing at the famous Honiara International Airport (formerly known as Henderson Field), an historic airfield from the WWII era.

Our flight will see us fly past Savo Island, site of a WWII naval battle, and over Ironbottom Sound, so-named due to the large number of Japanese and Allied ships and aircraft which sank here during the Guadalcanal Campaign.

Be sure to download the free World Update 13 from the Marketplace as it enhances some of the scenery we will be flying over!

We will be starting at AGGK. Please load your aircraft 10 minutes prior to take off and taxi over to the runway in preparation for departure.

AIRCRAFT

Recommended aircraft: Cessna Grand Caravan, Beechcraft Bonanza, Diamond DA62, or any aircraft of your choice that can cruise at around 170 knots.

MULTIPLAYER SETTINGS

Please adhere to the following settings so you can see everyone / be seen by everyone.

Live traffic	As preferred
Weather	Few Clouds
Time of Day	Daytime

It is advised in this flight to turn off both aircraft collisions and terrain collisions. If you do crash, you can use “slew” mode to join the pack. If the pack will be too scattered before the first stop, we will use slew on a defined point to regroup.

COMMUNICATION

To communicate with others, a voice channel on the "Official Microsoft Flight Simulator Discord” at https://discord.gg/msfs will be available to join.

I enjoyed flying today with my fellow Xbox flyers, I noticed at the start of things almost all of you vanished in front of my eyes and it made me wonder if things crashed or what the deal was. You’ll be able to see it on my stream, looking forward to next week to fly with this amazing community again.
