FLIGHT DETAILS

There are not one but two major sporting events taking place this weekend, so we’re giving attendees of Community Fly-In Friday your choice of two different flight plans to celebrate both of these events!

Option 1: The 2026 Winter Olympic Games :1st_place_medal: :2nd_place_medal: :3rd_place_medal: open on Friday in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy! :italy: If you would a flight in a conventional aircraft to explore the beautiful Italian Alps, choose this option. We’ll depart from Trieste, overfly the mountain town of Cortina d’Amezzo, then make our way to Milan for our full-stop landing.

Option 2: On Sunday, Super Bowl LX :american_football: is taking place at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. If you’d like to fly a blimp and circle the stadium, choose this option. We’ll depart from San Rafael, overly the San Francisco bay area, then make our way to Levi’s Stadium and a full-stop landing at San Jose.

For those choosing Option 2, be sure to claim the recently-released City Update 13: California as a FREE download from the in-sim Marketplace to enjoy the best scenery experience.

MSFS (2020) and MSFS 2024 Pilots on PC can download the .pln file here:

Option 1:
2026-02-06 Milano Cortina.PLN (2.5 KB)

Option 2:
2026-02-06 Super Bowl.PLN (1.9 KB)

MSFS 2024 Pilots on PC, PS5, and Xbox can import the flight plan from the new Flight Planner tool at these links:

Option 1 (Milano-Cortina)
Option 2 (Super Bowl)

You can find instructions on how to load a flight plan from the Flight Planner website to your in-sim EFB on your PC or PS5/Xbox console on our forums here.

We will be starting at LIPQ for Option 1 and CA35 for Option 2. Please load your aircraft 10 minutes prior to take off and taxi over to the runway in preparation for departure.

Man I miss the Orni in 24. Don’t have 20 installed anymore (too much space with everything).

On final Bolzano Airport (LIPB)

Amazing sky

Cessna 404 Titan PH-PNF ( Papa Hotel - Page Not Found >< )

Ending Group flight at Linate (LIML)

And back in the air heading Charles-de-Gaulle (LFPG) (2 h 13 m flight) for next week flight

A great flight again.

I like flying with live weather and real time if possible, and I had wanted to figure out the Skyship for some time. I had tried it only once before, and couldn’t get the steampunk trim system (pressure bags, air valves) to work.

So I decided to take part in The Great Bay Area Blimp Invasion Of 2026. While I normally stumble into the Flydays late and utterly unprepared, today I was exceptionally and unusually well set up for the event: I had a rudimentary controller config, and had watched some YT tutorial about the Skyship. (It turns out that the trim system works best if it’s actually switched on.)

Additionally, I had made my own flight plan which extended Seedy’s plan by a preceding first leg, so I could arrive at the Flyday departure airport already airborne.

And then I had the last-minute idea to look up if there are any freeware liveries for the SkyShip. Not necessarily to use for myself, but just in case someone else was using them, so I’d have some cool things to look at. As usual, the community did not disappoint, and both of the non-stock liveries showed up to the event.

I didn’t dare trying to land inside the stadium. At my current “skill” level with this thing, I’m glad to touch down inside the bounds of a state, not a stadium.

New Landmark for Milano Cortina Olympic games

Enjoy

Yeah, its a shame, Thopter didnt manage it into msfs24 :frowning:

Dune 3 is scheduled for December. Maybe there is a chance.

B2T: Did the Italien route yesterday, so I have to fly the San Francisco flight on Sunday by myself

Tbh, i dont believe they will port the thopter into msfs24 even when the dune 3 will be in cinemas. I will believe, when i will be able to fly it there …

I chose the Italian route last week as there are no blimps in FS2020. I think Pieter said it at the end of the stream that it is the Alps so I did not disappoint, and it was true: you could see the snowy mountaintops from the starting airport and it just got better from there. I especially enjoyed our first touch-and-go where we had to descend from around 10.000 feet all the way down to the runway.
