Please see below for details on the upcoming Fly-In Event:

FLIGHT DETAILS

Earlier this year on January 28, 2025, the Boom XB-1 flew into aviation history as the first civilian aircraft from the United States to break the sound barrier. With the release of SU4 on December 8, the XB-1 is now available FREE for all players to fly in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. For our Community Fly-In Friday event this week, we’ll be departing from Mojave Air and Space Port (KMHV) where the XB-1 completed its test flights.

From the Mojave area we will then fly on a generally northbound heading to Seattle for a full stop landing at Boeing Field (KBFI). It was in the Seattle area over 50 years ago where America’s previous attempt at building a supersonic civilian aircraft, the cancelled Boeing 2707, was originally designed.

MSFS (2020) and MSFS 2024 Pilots on PC can download the .pln file here:
2025-12-12 Supersonic in the Boom XB-1.PLN (1.6 KB)

MSFS 2024 Pilots on PC, PS5, and Xbox can import the flight plan from the new Flight Planner tool at this link.

You can find instructions on how to load a flight plan from the Flight Planner website to your in-sim EFB on your PC or PS5/Xbox console on our forums here.

We will be starting at KMHV. Please load your aircraft 10 minutes prior to take off and taxi over to the runway in preparation for departure.

Any chance we can get the manual on Aircraft Manuals - Microsoft Flight Simulator before the community flight starts?

Thanks for hosting. But I was unable to join the Discord as I did not “have permission”. I read all of the multitudes of links and helps in the channel but nothing I saw told me how to get to a role level that lets me participate.

This has been a lot more fun than I thought it would be

I really enjoyed this flight. Finally something faster than cessna 172  Only bad thing was not taking off all at once …

As this was a beyond Mach 1 event and despite 2020 having the best posible aircraft to end any event in 10m decided to bring out the Tomcat as most folks would be in Hornets

No Edorin’s Pelican this time but @HeXtHeLeGeNd318 was of course in his awesome Darkstar , and he wasnt alone as @Groversaurus also had one.. besides them shotwout to @DIKRE1970 , @jv747captainjv747captain and @TheHunDude in Rhinos .. and @Skaine7673 in a cool Eagle

Of course he had to be inverted

Doing a bit of battle damache check on @TheHunDude Rhino

And feeling the need for speed

Now comes the embarrasing time.. of course running 770nm at +1mach speed was not realistic even with the good old cat 20K lb .. so when the fuel became lowish instead of just writing down more fuel decided to use recently adquires airshow asistant and called for a tanker… wich then came in the oposite direction of the flight

So despite getting some gas it meant separation with the pack and had to run back fast late… really late

And as i was aproaching diving fast down to the airfield level throught the deep fog.. Of course Jester had to be Jester and do his classic shenanigans of converting my Tomcat into a single seater for no reason

After picking him and the canopy again and hitting him with a rolled star wars magazine enought times we managed to make it ..

And the photo finish

Bonus track: We kinda created a bit of a traffic jam:

Last week’s event was quite straight forward with flying supersonic most of the time. That is, until we arrived at Seattle where the weather was dreadful. I think I only managed to land the third time but that was not a good landing as I realized the landing gears were not down. So I landed on the plane’s belly… Anyway, after using slew mode I retried and managed to do an okay landing.

No event this week?

On Tuesdays stream they said that was the last for the year. I guess they meant it for Fly in Friday too. Not great comms

Thanks for letting me know. I apperciate it.

I was wondering that too as there was no event in the schedule.. but i guessed they just wanted to take new year and xmas off (understably)
