FLIGHT DETAILS

June 8 is World Oceans Day, an event to foster public interest in the protection of Earth’s oceans and the sustainable management of their resources! To recognize this occasion, our weekly fly-in will be an island-hopping tour of some Pacific Ocean atolls which received scenery enhancements in World Update 13: Oceania. This flight will also see us visit the island nation of Kiribati. :kiribati: Our telemetry data shows that Kiribati is home to more Microsoft Flight Simulator players per capita than any other country!

Pilots on PC can download the .pln file below:

We will be starting at NGAB. Please load your aircraft 10 minutes prior to take off and taxi over to the runway in preparation for departure.

AIRCRAFT

Recommended aircraft: de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver, CubCrafters X or NX Cub, Cessna 172, or any other plane of your choice that can maintain a cruise speed of approximately 110-120 knots. We suggest taking a float/amphibian variant for water landings, but this is not required.

MULTIPLAYER SETTINGS

Please adhere to the following settings so you can see everyone / be seen by everyone.

Variable Setting
Server SE Asia
Multiplayer All Players
Live traffic As preferred
Weather Few Clouds
Time of Day Daytime

It is advised in this flight to turn off both aircraft collisions and terrain collisions. If you do crash, you can use “slew” mode to join the pack. If the pack will be too scattered before the first stop, we will use slew on a defined point to regroup.

COMMUNICATION

To communicate with others, a voice channel on the "Official Microsoft Flight Simulator Discord” at https://discord.gg/msfs will be available to join.

LET’S FLY

This is meant to be a fun and informal flight. Everybody is welcome, no matter the amount of experience.

I read in the original post:
“We suggest taking a float/amphibian variant for water landings, but this is not required.”

Does this mean that we’re supposed to land at the airports as we pass them?

Landing at any airports is optional always. There’s not really a “supposed to” thing. Plus, some float planes also have wheels and fill both roles. The only necessity as I see it is using a plane that can keep up with the group.

Thank you so much!

I wish I could catch these every week, but I’m always thankful for the ones I can join!

Thanks for another great community flight, nice variation of planes too!

Went for live time and live weather, but was a bit too dark still so opted for day time instead, but the live weather was cool with some heavy rain, which seemed to match the real weather in Kiribati at the time!
