[Official] Community Fly-In Friday: Year of the Horse

We will be hosting an Official Fly-in alongside a group of community members (you!) on Twitch. This is an open event, free to all who would like to fly along with us and available to pilots of all skill levels. The goal is to have a great time, explore new locations of the world, and make new friends. This event is open to pilots on both sim versions (MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024) and both the PC and Xbox platforms.

FLIGHT DETAILS

The Lunar New Year, a holiday celebrated by billions of people from many different cultures, began this week on February 17!

In the Chinese zodiac, this year is the Year of the Horse. Join us in our celebration of the Year of the Horse with a flight in China ending in Shanghai, home to one of the most spectacular skylines of any city in the world!

MSFS 2024 Pilots on PC, PS5, and Xbox can import the flight plan from the new Flight Planner tool at this link.

You can find instructions on how to load a flight plan from the Flight Planner website to your in-sim EFB on your PC or PS5/Xbox console on our forums here.

We will be starting at ZSSH. Please load your aircraft 10 minutes prior to take off and taxi over to the runway in preparation for departure.

AIRCRAFT

Recommended aircraft: Cessna 172, Diamond DA40, Flight Design CTSL, Pipistrel Virus, or any aircraft of your choice with a cruise speed of 110+ knots.

A nice flight, apart from the current Beta glitch of the missing windows in autogen buildings.

Since I crashed my plane a lot last week, I chickened out and refrained from any experiments with that bottle-opener building.

The Corvalis is becoming my go-to prop plane for Flydays. If only I knew of a way to read, or otherwise determine, the elevator trim setting. (Am I missing something, or does the plane have no elev trim indication?)

Today I noticed that it has a nice, very large area for the registration lettering. This tempted me to put something slightly non-standard on it.

It was a nice route, no mountains this time but the scenery was pleasant nonetheless. I especially liked the flooded fields, those looked great. I changed the time and date when we arrived at Shanghai so I would have the fireworks over the city. Also now I know I am a fire rabbit.

Im glad i picked the Ornithopter. It gave me opportunity to fly low at lower speed and discover the landscape a little bit. I did really enjoy the flight as well, only if there would be more players to fly with.
