Gliding in the French Alps
Had to look twice at this one to see which is real…. I love this sim. ![]()
realy nice
Update, I just looked back and still don’t know which is real…. ![]()
A reminder of the purpose of this topic:
You should fly Cesna 172 version without glass cockpit from Helsinki and find Red Square using paper and calculator navigation based on some landmarks to copy Rus’t crazy fligth
I was trying once - but with MS sim version of Cesna this is immposible as it has not large enough fuel tanks to make this
Rust had replaced back seats with extra fuel tanks to perform this fligh, and actually he landed not on Red Square but on the nearby bridge and taxed to the Vasilievskyy Spusk ![]()
Looking at some pictures it was a bit difficult to tell what’s real and which is the sim. That’s pretty awesome I love this sim and getting better. Even as I fly it on my PC I just am in awe at times how near realistic it is and still improving!
Nice shot!
@Zeanuck: Out of curiosity - do you have any mod for the trees installed? I suppose no, as the exaggerated size of the trees is clearly visible from the screenshot.
I am running REX Seasons with the tree mod, which lowers the tress 25% I believe.
Was your approach and landing speed the same in sim? It “feels” so much slower…
It was almost 2 years ago
I think I did my best to match the PoH so “Yes”
It’s definitely the view angle (GoPro 180° vs MSFS front view) that give more close objects just below the plane which gives this feeling of speed.
I think that Asobo could work on this feeling of speed a bit.. it just feels too slow sometimes. No?
Maybe it’s just the size of the center line marks that make the difference. If they were narrower and shorter, they’d fling by quicker.
Not sure tho..
An interesting observation.
Myself? I kind of find the slowness of MSFS runway simulations somewhat refreshing.
In FSX I always felt like I had JATO bottles strapped onto the tail of my little GA prop-jobs.
Having never piloted IRL though, this is just another view from the peanut-gallery.
