Now that Flight Simulator is very integrated with Xbox, does Microsoft have any plans to increase the family of official Xbox controllers adding flight controllers?
I love my Xbox controller to play other games on the PC, but it’s far from ideal for flying. I’m looking to upgrade my old flight stick but haven’t decided on the best one yet especially because none of the current ones seem to have force feedback.
I would love to see how Microsoft would approach an official Xbox flight stick and/or HOTAS system. Brings me good memories of the old Microsoft Sidewinder with force feedback.
Anyone else things this would be a good idea? or not?
I still use a sidewinder FF2 which must be nearly 20 years old. Just because they haven’t done it in a very long time doesn’t mean they shouldn’t.
As for hardware not being Microsoft’s strong suit…xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox series, we’re on the 9th generation of Surface Pro, Surface Laptop (4th or 5th gen) etc etc. For it not being their strong suit they certainly seem to have invested heavily in and are making plenty of money from hardware.
I understand what you mean about not having many peripherals, but I disagree about them not being strong in hardware. Also, nobody saw Microsoft resurrecting Flight Simulator and competing with P3D/Xplane either, and here we are.
Microsoft does make great hardware. I love the Xbox controller and I’ve always only used Microsoft mice and keyboard. Don’t really care about the all “gamer” stuff with a million RGB lights.
The Surface family are the best tablets/laptops I’ve ever owned. I don’t own an Xbox but I assume it’s good considering how popular it is, right? Hololens is still niche, but it’s an amazing hardware. Sidewinder was great at the time… and so on…
So yeah, I’m sure they could make a great flight controller if they wanted to.
You are confusing peripherals (mice, keyboards, joysticks, game controllers, steering wheels, pedals, headsets, speakers, mouse pads etc) with computers like surface and xbox. What i’m saying is Microsoft PERIPHERALS are pieces of garbage. Are peripherals not hardware?
Playstation has outsold Xbox. You must not remember the RRoD
Hololens was meant to compete with Google Glasses and look where those are. Something about personal movements being tracked really kills the idea of augmented reality glasses
I could care less about Apple, but i wouldn’t want my tablet to be running something originally designed to run on a desktop and would rather get an iPad
More choice of peripherals on console would be great. The Turtlebeach stuff is very well made but the new hotas is not an option for xbox, unfortunately the TM Hotas is more toy than tool and very poorly made so reliably unreliable. Id love to see better made hotas options for us on xbox but you can pretty much guarantee the MS has sewn up an exclusivity contract with TM stating that only the shoddy Hotas One will be the only availiable option until 2324
There’s a reason if i stick with an xbox controller, there’s literally no choice on Xbox and even some scam around. The TCA flightstick for Xbox, which is virtually identical to its pc counter part, cost double the price for literally no reason. They really drop the ball for hardware on Xbox.
