This is my first post here in the forums, I’ve been shawdowing them since the game released but had no reason to post until it was released on xbox.
I used to be a hard core simmer on msfs2004 years ago and really enjoyed the ai traffic they implemented using the in game airline liveries they created. I remember loading up the game, taxiing to the runway and having to wait in line for takeoff and landings. The airplanes were always moving, it was a dynamic system that made the sim much more immersive.
My issue is that on the xbox version at least, the airports are filled with the ‘scenery’ airplanes but nothing ever lands or moves at the airport except for the ground vehicles. I have all the settings for ai traffic turned up and still no avail, i even tried deleting and reinstalling the game since that seems to be the common theme amongst everyone lol.
The airports are dead and very lonely, seems rather unrealistic and ruins immersion for me. I have enjoyed this sim immensely and I’m superexcited to start simming again! I hope they can fix the ai traffic, as I’d prefer not to use the real time. Xbox is limited with modding capabilities, real time traffic has generic liveries so at least hopefully the ai offline traffic can have the default airline liveries when it’s fixed
Good point. I know when I have been at the major airports I have seen aircraft about but come to think about it not sure I have seen any being pushed back, taxiing or taking off or landing…uhm…
Can anyone confirm. Off the tip of my head I’m pretty sure the same as OP has said now I think about it.
Anyone?

It is the same on PC and has been for many months.
Microsobo continue to promise a fix but never deliver. Regrettably, they have no interest in IFR, airliners or anything else that does not involve scenery and sight seeing.
I really hope that you enjoy FS2020 but you may come to the same conclusion as many (not all) of us that this is basically a scenery simulator with a ‘flying game’ attached to it.
Meanwhile, we wait for an improvement in offline ATC…and wait…and wait…

Not for me. I did a parallel land at Venice the other day and have been following planes in at busy airports such as Heathrow.
It’s weird. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Not good.
Was this the offline ai traffic? When i turn on live traffic my airports get a few planes coming in to land but that’s it. Offline ai doesn’t work at all for me. This game seems to have different problems for different people, not one MSFS experience is the same it seems like lol.
I’ve seen one time the generic ai planes circling low over the airport in a holding pattern but that’s is all they did. No atc contact, no landings, just a simple pre programmed path. When i take off, the skies seem rather busy but not a plane in sight, when i approach my destination, the airports die again and I’m the only traffic. The ai is definitely broken, hope they can fix it soon

I’ve been following the forums since August last year, i came in knowing pretty much what to expect, especially the airliners. They need lots of work! My interest has been GA and mimicking real flights I’ve d one but lately my interest has leaned to airline flights and learning the systems. The scenery in this sim is outstanding, its very well done and i love this game for it. It just needs some work, i understand this game is still in development and will be for years to come. I hope for a promising future though for it. There’s a lot of problems with only so many people to fix it, it’ll take time.
It seems like Asobo does care somewhat at least, they seem to be very active in the community with their Q&A streams, development updates, and the player wishlist. Hopefully they can iron out these bugs in time and provide us with a top knock sim and give us what we paid for. I bought the premium deluxe edition for xbox, and still don’t regret my purchase yet lolol, still having a lot of fun with it
I fly on PC and with the FBW A320 which is excellent and very realistic and accurate (I was real world pilot until retirement.) Hopefully the mod will be available on XBox.
I sat at different airports all over the US, from jfk, los angeles, atlanta, hartford, dallas, and everywhere in between watching the airports for more hours than i want to admit lol. Nothing moved, not one airplane taxied for takeoff or landing. Not one pushback or taxi clearance, nothing at all, the airport was dead. The airports in the game look great, but with no ai traffic doing anything at all it kills my immersion. Bummer.
Sorry that i have brought this to your attention, i hope it doesn’t drive you nuts as well like it does me lol

The FBW has accurate flight dynamics, a real MCDU with functions the default just does not have, accurate hydraulic and electrical systems, correct take-off and landing logic and so much more.
There is a lot to learn but it is worth it. FBW aim to make it the most accurate A320 sim around…and they are well on their way to doing so.
As for your other question, C130-K ‘Hercules’ (RAF) and later the original A300 series.
Nearly 70 now, so flight sims are my passion, especially now we have VR.
Happy flying my friend.
I’ve been flying the Cessna Citation series, it seems a little more noob friendly. I tried the 320 a few times and was having trouble climbing, i hear people complaining that the a320 was nerfed on power and figured that was why so i have learned a little about the Citation’s systems and have been flying that ever since. I’ll check out the FBW mod more to see how it compares to the default model.
The c130s are a joy to watch flying around, they’re definitely cool airplanes! I’ve seen videos where they attach JATO rockets for short field takeoffs, super cool! I’m not from Europe but thank you for your service sir!

I sat about at Gatwick last night watching some Live traffic planes land. The issue was it was dark and none of the planes had landing lights on. Infact they had no lights on other than the ones in the cabin. So there is a bug with lights not being switched on at night for live ai aircraft.
I didn’t see any aircraft taxiing to the runway in this time.
Pretty much everything works better … I suppose the only downside is it’s a bit more complicated, so it’s study level.
