So folks,
after testing monday and yesterday and a coversation with oculus there is an solution.
I had the problem that my quest 2 wont connect to my pc via cable with oculus link. Everytime i hit the oculus link button on my quest 2 there were the three loading signs for an miute or an half and then the quest 2 was going back to the home screen.
Tried to deactivate nvidia overlay, deactivate bullguard security (■■■■ you). Set the quest 2 back to factory settings. Updated all hardware and software to the latest and nothing happend. After contacting oculus support i got this anwser:
Thank you for contacting Oculus Support.
I understand taht you are having an issue connecting your Quest 2 to your PC using Oculus Link. I appreciate you for letting us know you feedback on what you are experiencing as well as providing your log files so that we can review the issue. No worries, I’ll be happy to look into this for you.
After reviewing the log files, I see that there are some updates needed which can cause the issue you are experiencing.
Since your Nvidia Overlay is enabled, kindly disable it by following the steps below:
Click on the System Tray to show hidden icons.
Right-click the Nvidia icon.
Click GeForce Experience.
Click on the Settings icon.
Toggle “In-Game Overlay” to off.
Close the GeForce Experience window.
If you are using Oculus Tray Tool or other third party software that can make modifications to graphics or settings, please uninstall for troubleshooting purposes as these programs can cause conflicts that effect performance and display.
Please disconnect any extra devices connected to the PC leaving only the product hardware, mouse, keyboard and one primary monitor.
The next thing that I would like to ask is to check if Game Mode is enabled on your system. Follow the steps below:
Open the Windows Settings menu
Click on Gaming
Click Game Mode
Toggle Game Mode off if it’s turned on
Furthermore, If you have not tried so already, try to disconnect your Quest 2 from your PC before installing the Oculus app. If the issue still persist, please follow the steps below:
- Ensure that you have enough space on your primary drive for the installation.
Even if installing on another drive, the main drive will still need space for the temporary install files. Please reinstall once troubleshooting is completed to keep your system protected, if it is the cause reach out to the developer for further troubleshooting.
- Temporarily disable any antivirus software programs.
If this does not resolve the issue, temporarily uninstall the software as it can still cause conflicts even while disabled.
- Disable any remote desktop or team viewing software
- Create a test Windows user administrator account to rule out a Windows account issue. Please be sure to not include any spaces, special characters or numbers in the username. Install the software on the new account.
If you are trying to install on another system drive, please be sure that you are following the steps to do so from our public support page here.
Once you are able to complete these updates, please let me know the results. If you are still experiencing issues, provide new log files for further review.
If you have any questions or concerns that you want to address, feel free to reach us back.
The first steps i tried before concating occ support. Nvidia overlay was always on, game mode and hardware acc always off for my setup. So this diddnt help. But what helped was an deinstall of Bullguard security and the occulus windows app (after disconecting quest 2 from system^^). Restarted engine. Installed the occulus app and it works now. Therefore i dont know if its the reinstall or the bullguard. Whatever.. I go on a search for another antivirus. Maybe its that.
So in case anybody needs this i leave this here..
