Okay Asobo, let's talk sense of speed

Wasn’t there an issue where the clocks were running slow on the Xbox? Maybe OPs sim actually is too slow? lol

Then again just look at OP’s username. I don’t think we’ll ever get them going fast enough.

Why? Assuming that both sims got the math right, how can DSC be any better, let alone much better with it’s still pretty basic & bland scenery?

Could be explained by using a different FoV without realising. Situational awarenes is much more important in DCS so without head-tracking it’s probably common to use a wider angle.

Very likely. Here is a great example with 4 clips that show the train at exactly the same speed. Only the field of view is getting more narrow each time.

Reading this topic I had the same thought. The main factor here is probably the FOV/zoom level.

This video is probably the best demonstration of what we are talking about that I have seen so far.

@lkowgli I don’t think so. The OP mentioned different FOV settings already in his initial post.

Yeah well, in that case it’s only his imagination or expecting unrealistic sensations from the sim. Like we already said: the speed is what it is. It’s a factor of distance divided by time, which MSFS does accurately.

And yeah, the higher the general speed the harder it is to notice the difference between different speeds. When you accelerate from 50 to 100 knots you increase your velocity by 100%. If you increase your speed from 600 to 700 knots you only increase your velocity by 16 %.

Nothing more to add, really.

Here is a video comparing sense of speed between MS2020, X-plane 12 and real life.
I was able to form my own opinion, you be the Judge.

just give it a try and you’ll understand. the scenery is designed for lower level flying including grass and ground effects. plus the frame rate is much better so you’ll have a smoother experience and that’s very important when it comes to flying low and fast.

What ground effects? Btw, I wouldn’t fly VFR in MSFS below 60fps because smoothness during maneuvering is, for obvious reasons, very important.
I don’t see any difference between these two sims.
So it’s just the difference in scenery depiction and I don’t think that they are comparable.
