Most often it will use SAM (Special Air Mission). The last flight recorded in FlightAware for tail number 01-0041 was operated as SAM449.

That aircraft is designated the Boeing C-40B, or maybe a C.

Notably, Gerald Ford was sworn in as President while Nixon was flying back to California. Halfway across the country Air Force One changed callsigns to SAM 2700.

Yeah, and when the other Ford changed the plane in flight the callsign changed to Air Force One… oh well… ^^
