Since several sim updates ago the default new path to the packages is
C:\XboxGames\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Content
If you have reinstalled MSFS sometime since I suggest you look there.

Edit: just ignore this bit of wrong information

Thanks. But it’s not only the packages folder. It’s the complete Local Cache folder, which is empty (including usercfg.opt, etc.)
Will not be solved. Have to reinstall everything. Topic is just for heads up for others.

The directory you mentioned only contains the launcher and its related files. The main game files are stored elsewhere, by default
c:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\

yes!

c:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\

is empty

downloaded already 30 of 137 GB, yeah! Thanks Asobo!

Did you happen to move the official and community folders to another location? For example D:\MSFS?

no! yesterday everything was fine. The Addon Linker found everything. After the download of 1.37.19 one hour ago i startet the addon linker and it didn’t find the community folder anymore. The complete content of the local cache folder has been deleted by the update.

Oh yeah … I forgot that it’s so long ago since I moved them

It’s best to move the packages to a non default location and update the path in the UserCfg. Then any following sim updates you should always check the new path matches that shown at the bottom of the splash screen. I don’t use Addon linker but so long as it also knows where they are there should be no problem

After you install MSFS you’ll need to create a new folder on another drive or partition and move the official and community folders to this new location.
Here’s a step-by-step guide:
On the desired drive or partition create a new folder where you want to store MSFS packages.
For example disk D folder named MSFS.
D:\MSFS

Locate the current Official and Community folders.
By default c:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages
Move Official and Community folders to directory you just created > D:\MSFS
Launch MSFS and click the install pakages path

Select the folder you created earlier
for example D:\MSFS

Please don’t forget to delete all files and folders from the Official folder after you have moved it to the new location.

So go to

c:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Official

delete all files and folders from the Official folder.

Fly safe capt!
