OpenTrack & Tobii Eye Tracker

Hi All,

I’ve been playing around with my new Tobii Eye tracker for a couple of days now. I know right out of the box it works with MSFS, with a new device being detected under ‘controllers’. And I know you can adjust the sensitivities in there. That has helped, but I still find that the thing is overly sensetive. I’ve disabled all eye tracking nut even with my head perfectly still, there is still movement (albeit a lot less) within MSFS itself.

So I thought I’d try using OpenTrack as I know that has some fantastic smoothing options and of course the Hamilton filter which allows you to set deadzones etc. I’ve got FaceTrackNoIR working with OpenTrack and am really pleased with the inputs I’m getting - The trouble is that I cannot figure out how to send the data from OpenTrack to MSFS!

Whenever I turn eye tracking on in MSFS, it defaults to receiving data from the Tobii eye tracker and no OpenTrack. I can tell this my reducing all sensetivities on the Tobii Profile within MSFS to 0 and moving my head around. Whilst OpenTrack will show my correct head movement, MSFS is still trying to read the Tobii which has all the sensetivites down and thus isn’t sending anything.

Has anybody encountered similar? Any idea how to stop MSFS reading the data from the Tobii eye tracker and instead read it from OpenTrack?

Cheers,

EDITED TO ADD: After restarting the simulator a few times I was able to get MSFS to identify a TrackIR controller as well as the Tobii. I found that if I disable “Toggle Track Eye” within MSFS then it will default to the OpenTrack which is inputted through the TrackIR controller.

Seems like your trying to use Open Track and Eye Tracker at the same time. The eye tracker does not need anything other than it’s own drivers used to adjust the tracker to your eye position. So get rid of Track IR and Open Eye Tracker. I mean go into widows hardware and drivers and make sure they’re gone. Then watch this video on You Tube.

I think that’s all you’ll need.
