OpenXr do I need it...what does it do

Hello.

I have an old gaming laptop a 1060 graphics card and yes, I didn’t think VR would even run…I have a rift S and, guess what. It does. And as far as I’m concerned it ain’t that bad…

Stutters a bit, but I can fly and I the ground rolls by smoothly enough, so until I upgrade I am pleased and quite gobsmacked…

My question though…

What is Openxr, do I need it even though I have VR running and what will it do?

I use the Oculus tray tool to refine some settings, do I need the OpenXR tool?

Thanks

Steve.

OpenXR is included in Oculus link (otherwise you woulnd’t have been able to run the game in VR. So no need to instill anything else.

Can you help me?
How can i register OPENXR?
I have oculus app
Im not able to find the route of point 1

  1. Locate the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Khronos\OpenXR\1
  2. For ActiveRuntime change its value to the one that matches your platform (note: default paths are shown below):DONT UNDERSTAND THIS
  • Oculus
    C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-runtime\oculus_openxr_64.json

what is exactly what i have to do?
I dont find that route

It took a while before it showed up for me in the registry too. Don’t know what triggered it.

Restarted the PC a couple of times (both with and without the headset connected), and played around a bit in VR in the Oculus, both with and without the link cable connected.
After around an hour, it just appeared after a restart.
