OpenXR Toolkit (upscaling, world scale, hand tracking...) - Release thread

Thank you all for your work. You do a great job. The tool kit works perfect. 3070 with 80%FSR, 100%Openxr,100%Render scale in game and 50 %sharpness. Reverb G2, Win11. 31 FPS in game

you have better result with oculus sharpening to off ?

what other openXR game do you own ?

@mbucchia Thank you very much for this great tweak! Can you explain what the Prediction dampening exactly does? Haven’t messed with this yet.

you speak my language. I’m still in between, it looks sharp and is kinda smooth. But I’m torn between kinda smooth and super smooth and a bit worse graphics. Super smooth is fun. I recently achieved super smooth  with OXR set to default, SS in OTT to 1,5, resolution in oculus to 1.3 and 60 resolution in sim, which looked pretty great (despite some edges in the cockpit) and was extra smooth with super stable 36 fps.

so still testing

I’ve updated our website with more details about Prediction dampening to answer your question:

Curious here too
I’ve tested War Thunder and it’s weird because the game starts and toolkit seems to work, but stuck in the “lobby” screen. Can move my head around. The game menu just never shows up!

Not the one you asked, but since the question applies to me, too: I play Skyrim VR using the OpenXR mod that gives much better performance than default SteamVR (glorious 90 FPS with ENB, at 1.2x SS), making it one of the best-looking and most immersive VR games thanks to mods.

The OpenXR Toolkit would be a very welcome addition here, too, allowing higher resolution (native 1.7 SS) or more FPS (for 120 Hz refresh rate).

Morrowwind right? Are you the one who filed the bug against NIS scaler last month :D?

Can you try and see if it works now? If not can you send me logs (again)? Thanks!

I would also appreciate to have the Toolkit activated for MSFS only.

I am using vorpX which also takes advantage of OpenXR and the Toolkit messes it up so the vorpX magic does not work.

So the drop down menu in the beta version where we could specify with which exe the Toolkit should activate would help :+1:

Cool I’ve created a task to look into a solution to this.

No, wasn’t me who filed a bug. Didn’t try to get the old NIS Scaler to work with it.

I did play Skyrim VR yesterday after FS2020, though, didn’t notice any issues.

So you think the OpenXR Toolkit was affecting it? I’ll see if I can open the menu with Ctrl+F2 while in Skyrim VR. Would be amazing if that worked and the scaler applied!

Edit: Update:

Ran Skyrim VR again after MSFS2020. No problem, but no OpenXR Toolkit, either. At least Ctrl+F2 did nothing.

I’m using the Wabbajack modlist installer (www.wabbajack.org) with FUS mod list (GitHub - Kvitekvist/FUS) which has an option (which I enabled) that says “OpenComposite: This can replace SteamVR and will give Oculus users a strong performance boost.” (Campbell Suter (ZNix) / OpenComposite · GitLab) Another option (which I’m not using) is “OpenVR FSR: AMD sharpener, not compatible with OpenComposite, mixed reviews. Test at your own risk.”

Hope that information helps to determine if OpenXR Toolkit can/should (or cannot/shouldn’t) apply to this…

did you try this one with steam games ?

Has experienced " double vision" intermittently in G2 VR headset , namely , seeing 2 floating panels in the VR set . Anyone has got similar problem? also sometimes the floating panel’s location can be too close to the eyes .

Thanks for your reply! My install dir is “C:\Program files\OpenXR-Toolkit”. I’m not so familiar with the registry and I dont know what to look for or how to edit it… I have Win10 21H2 newly reinstalled.

@mbucchia - I get the menues and everything in the sim, but it doesn’t seem to do any change for the renderscale and sharpness. Need to do some more testing later today just to be 100%.

What do I need to do to ensure that the loader has access to the files?

Yep, sometimes i see the toolkit menu just fine, later it appears double

just close one eye and you’re fine  (OK, not a permanent solution, I agree)

I played around with this software yesterday, and it really seems promising. I was able to get smooth performance (in my world, that’s around 40 fps) with everything set to the highest settings (yes, I have a 3090, but unfortunately only a 3800X CPU) when flying the Icon aircraft over Lisboa with some heavy clouds. Nice work! :ok_hand: I’ll continue to experiment, maybe in conjunction with the Oculus Tray Tool, which I haven’t really dived into yet.

Question: If DLSS would be natively implemented in the simulator, would that make the upscaling part of this program redundant?

It was more of a general question but I do own Minecraft in VR and it’s using OpenXR I think.
