Are any changes recommended with SU13 for us VR/OpenXR Toolkit users? Honestly, I don’t see any difference in anything with the update (good or bad) - maybe that’s a good thing.
Is actually eye the tracking feature supported in VR at all on MSFS ?.. as frankly I see no little with it on or off. All tracking software installed and tested OK at my end on Aero with correct settings in place.
I doubt we will see any major betterment till next year on 2024 when the new multithreaded engine will kick in.
When all else fails… read the instructions.
In Pimax Crystal on 4090 Foveated Rendering (Fixed or Dynamic) will provide up to 10% FPS increase. I don’t have Varjo Aero, but I would expect no better results. Foveated Rendering is not directly supported by MSFS, support is provided via OpenXR Toolkit.
Updated to SU13 slow, but no problems.
Even 4090 is the bottleneck if you max resolution and settings, with any Intel 13 series. No need to overclock CPU, actually undervolted. So I don’t see the benefit of 13900k vs 13600k. Even 13400k might be enough, I don’t know. FOCUS ON GPU PERFORMANCE IN VR.
I can overclock 13600k to 5.7 to match single core 13900k, but it does not make any sense as CPU is not bottleneck. Actually i have undervolted -0.125 and power limited 125w.. Efficiency is a must for me in Fractal Ridge case. Cpu combo never throttles, max 90-92C with not a best in a kind ID Cooling IS-55
Ddr4 at 3600 16, but the cpu memory combo is not the bottleneck, so this does not matter.
13600k and PNY 4090, G2 here. All in a Fractal Ridge super small. Ultra compact.

Nvidia control pannel x16 anisotropic and max power.
200% wmr, no motion reprojection, CAS 100 and adjust colors with toolkit, foveated rendering if you need 2-3 extra fps.
Dlss quality, 255/400 detail. Traffic pretty high 75 overall. No amd sharpening (CAS in tookit takes care of it).
You can get over 40fps with all setting ultra at most places, I set Riva tunner limit 30, undervolt and overclock 4090 (mine at 950mV 2775Mhz, mem +1400). Again efficiently is a must in a Ridge (average GPU temps 60C, max 67C, 380W max). In dcs i can push a bit more the frequency at the same mV.
In Dcs Toolkit FSR at 77 does the Dlss kind of job, really useful. In dcs my system is overkill, just compromising Mssa x2 instead of max x4. Civil traffic medium, Everything else ultra settings, always 50-70 fps. mssa x4 ok if rivatuner 45. The FSR feature of Toolkit is key, dlss coming with 2.9 will be even better (dlss quality is 66pct vs current fsr max quality 77pct).
Hopefully someone can benefit from this.

Right now using a 12900/3090/32G setup with the Reverb G2 setup and getting about 35 FPS except when landing and it drops to about 18. Most settings are Ultra or High. 150% WMR. DLSS/Quality, CAS sharpening and default Fixed Foviated Rendering.
Was curious if it’s worth trying motion reprojection again. I fly a lot of single engine prop planes and never liked the distortion.
To eliminate motion reprojection artifacts inside the propeller arc you can download from Flightsim.to the modified propeller textures or edit the texture yourself - should be solid arc with no individual propeller blades visible. BTW in real life you can’t see the propeller blades, only camera can “see” them due to frequency interference.

I’m using PIMAX 8kx, and even without customizing OPENXRTOOLKIT’s FFR, in other words, with just the bare minimum, clouds dance in my field of vision due to head tracking.
The clouds are dancing.
All the clouds, from the nearest to the far away, wobble in the same way.
This is fatal, so I gave up on FFR and DFR.
I enjoy flying the F22 at low altitudes mainly in central Tokyo, and I always need to reduce the load, so I would appreciate it if I could use it.
The CPU is 7950x3D and the GPU is RTX4090.
In addition, SU13 seems like a disaster for me.
The stable settings that I had worked so hard to create were no longer valid.
At first it was stable, but after about 90 minutes of flight, the familiar micro-stutter and the FPS drop (accompanied by sound noise) in high-rise buildings started to return. .
In the environment created before SU13, it was stable even after flying for 3 hours.
Probably something is happening to appCPU.
That’s what happened when I had this symptom before.
I’m using turbo mode.
CAS is beautiful but a little heavy, and I don’t feel much of a difference between FSR80% and NIS80%.

We want to enjoy the thrill of flying an F22 at an extremely low altitude over the complex buildings in central Tokyo, so responsiveness to operations, reduction of stutter, and FPS are important.
I have considered and tried using redraw mode several times., but I was confused as to whether it was better to use this mode of PIMAX or MSFS, so I decided to use Turbo.
However, in a sense, I feel like it’s a problem to rely on the GPU and demand the best possible rendering.
Personally, I think that the cause of the stutter, extreme FPS drop, and sound noise is the app CPU.
This is because the recorded location of appcpu extreme deterioration matches the time of sound noise, etc.
Maybe Turbo mode is constantly pushing the GPU, resulting in an increase in the amount of processing on the CPU side? , this is just an amateur’s guess.
In other words, perhaps redraw mode will reduce the CPU load?
SU13 has once again exacerbated these problems that my settings were solving, so I have to do something.
Please tell me, what kind of trial and error is recommended?
With Pimax Crystal I don’t observe any issues in clouds (other than some texture artifacting when DLSS is enabled). Also I don’t observe any negative impact of SU13 (I flew for 2h straight last weekend).
I’m not using Motion Smoothing (Pimax name for motion reprojection). With 7800x3D and 4090, DLLS quality, resolution very high at 4600 x xxxx, I’m getting above 30 FPS in photogrammetry areas and above 40 FPS in rural areas.

I also use DLLS in MSFS.
I don’t want to use it, but I had no choice but to use it because of its contribution to drawing speed.
However, cloud dancing due to the use of FFR occurred even in the case of TAA.
Regarding cloud dance, there is a difference in viewing angle between Crystal and 8KX, and I think this may be the cause.
This is just an amateur’s assumption, but I think it’s not a drawing resolution load problem, but a geometric problem at the end of the viewing angle that is messing up various calculations.
This is just my personal opinion as an amateur.
But because of this, I canceled my plans to install a DFR unit on my 8kx.
Which type of motion reprojection are you using?
Or are you using turbo mode?
I think turbo mode has benefited me, but I feel that it may have a negative effect on stability.
And people with the HP G2 with eye tracking have the same 10% over the HP G2 without eye tracking?
There are HP G2s with eye tracking? Is that an addon or something?
If you use DLSS quality, I find NIS at 20% sharpening does better than CAS. NIS uses Nvidia libraries and hardware. It’s a lighter load and 20-35% is all you need. Let me know your thoughts.

What resolution percentage should NIS use?
I’m a Pimax user, but I set it to 100% on PITOOL.
The reason for this is that changes on the PITOOL side sometimes result in instability and a request to restart MSFS. (I have doubts about whether restarting MSFS is really necessary, but I don’t want to mess with pitool as much as possible, even if it’s just a magic trick.)
The problem is how to set the override resolution in OPENXR and the upscaling when using NIS etc.
I now set “Ideal resolution (140% of Pimax = ideal value that appropriates the resolution in the center of the field of view taking into account lens distortion)” as an override, and set “Realistic NIS upscaling for the load.” Is it easy to understand by setting “%”? I think.
However, I don’t know if this is really correct.

This seems to contradict the above post, but I am testing using FFR on the PITOOL side.
If my delusion that “clouds dance because OPENXR’s FFR does not perfectly correspond to pimax8kx’s maximum viewing angle” is correct, then only PITOOL’s FFR, which should be based on the viewing angle, This is because I thought there was a possibility that countermeasures had been taken.

Pimax Play FFR only works with OpenVR DX11 games. So it wont have any effect at all in Flight Sim (OpenXR).
