OpenXR Toolkit (upscaling, world scale, hand tracking...) - Release thread

Hey,

only with Tray Tool i become a super clear picture without Tray Tool and only the toolkit it not clear enough. Were is the fail on my side??

I7 7700K
RTX 3060TI

kind regards

This all sounds expected. Did you need clarification on anything?

I would expect to get more often “CPU bound” message and less “CPU headroom” message as clearly my CPU is the bottleneck here
I do understand that “CPU headroom” means my CPU is idle for a longer time than my GPU but I may misunderstand those metrics.

BTW, you should’nt be there answering my noob questions, you should better have a rest

I’m bored lol.

The headroom thing btw, is relative to your selected Motion Reprojection locked rate.

Hi guys, new here, but having a very frustrating and simple problem with the toolkit. I believe I’ve installed everything correctly, the companion app is running, but I just can’t activate/open the menu in my vr. I use a quest 2 and the xbox game pass version of fs2020, and ctrl + f2 or any of the other possible variations (alt, changing the buttons) don’t work. It just doesn’t appear.

Does anybody know how to fix this? Getting really desperate here.

have you tried the steps on our troubleshooting page?

This tool just keeps better and better. It makes the difference between to vr being close unusable and having a great experience. I have paid good money for software that was of a lot less utility than this and I am amazed at the time and effort put in by the team to produce the tool for no monitory reward. Thanks to all involved.

Had the same problem months ago. My keyboard Function keys had been reprogrammed for other function.
This should help you test your keyboard:

Good luck!

@mbucchia / all, does anyone know how to avoid the planes shadow turning into a large black square when it goes into the outer rings when using foveated rendering? Can it be avoided or is that literally what the lower shading rate version of the shadow looks like?

Not quite sure if I’m interpreting the tool correctly, when I press ctrl + f2 both keys light up yellow, and f2 stays green. In the command line on top it doesn’t turn up though. ctrl seems to be the only not staying green afterwards, does that mean anything?

I suggest you try to set up a different set of keyboard shortcut from the OpenXR Toolkit Companion app (see Start Menu). Something other than F1/F2/F3.

I vaguely remember Googling and finding the fix for my keyboard, I believe a Windows setting. That tool may not have been the exact one I found and used. If you’re unsure of the indication of that tool, find another tool to try.

Or as also suggested change the mapping…

I just checked the Alt box also, so Ctrl+Alt+F1/F2/F3
Mind you, when flying a prop, these keys bind to Prop and Mixture,
what I do whilst flying is ESC, and change settings in this pause page, and then Resume back to the flight to check results.

Talking about keys, I realized that when changing a value and trying to go faster with the SHIFT key, pressing SHIFT+CTRL+F1 turns off the throttle

once you’re in the ‘menu’, the control key is no longer required I think.. just F1-F2-F3 and shift if required.. but it would still cut the throttle (but not kill the engine)…

I need to try to reproduce this. Do you know if this is new to version 1.1 or did it happen before too?

You’re absolutely right. Results are terrible without MR. 52fps is nowhere near smooth. (And I"m on a 3080ti)Try banking and looking sideways. Frames go like prrrrrrt.
I would love to see a sideshot banking from someone who claims smooth frames without MR.

Exactly. I have no idea how people are able to perceive this as smooth. It is however worth mentioning that flight simulator itself is doing some sort of “motion smoothing”, it is looking smoother at let’s say 40 fps than other VR games at that framerate without MR. Nevertheless for me personally it’s still much more immersion breaking than any artefacts that MR introduces. I think there’s just a psychological component to it though. Some people’s brains don’t seem to be as sensitive as others and may even perceive those framerates as smooth for all i know. Just as some people don’t notice any flickering at 60hz while for me personally it’s unbarable, and i feel like i’m having an EEG exam lol

I experienced the same behaviour and think it’s a bug introduced with the new version.
(FFR preset quality and wide).

This was already the case in prev. version.
