Option to share flight plans, so other people can easily download them and do them as well

I think it would be a nice addition to this game, or simulator, or whatever you want to call it, like, in the map, there was an option called “Community” or something similar in which you can share your flight plans, with a name, tags, and that kind of things, or search for routes created by other people, by name, tags, starting and ending point. I know you can save them to a file and later share them, but I think an in-game option for that would be pretty cool.

Edit: With MSFS available for Xbox, this would also be a helpful feature for Xbox users to share flight plans with each other.

Thats a great idea! I wonder, Jayne if this is something we can add into the marketplace - a repository for users to share flight plans.

Hi @Pablordgz,
Seems you are keen on planning flights and that’s great.
May I suggest, rather than sharing plans, why not be a creator of your own plans. It’s really easy!
Look up SimBrief. It’s a free online planning site with clear and precise instructions. It will produce a paper (pdf) plan and also the files you need to import into your airplane if it has an FMC.
Flightaware also has actual airline plans, mostly for the US.
But SimBrief is the way to go.
Happy planning!

Yes, I know, it’s just that I feel that an option to share them with people would also be great. There’s lots of places to discover and it would be much easier with a tool like this. Not only commercial flights, but also VFR plans, maybe routes is a better term for that one

I wrote a free Windows flight planner that has about 500 built in flight plans. If you go to YouTube and search for “Grand Tour Flight Planner” you will find it. You can load them into MS-FS. I think it is a nice idea to share FP’s.

If you’re looking for VFR inspiration try a c172 Facebook group. They often post videos and the airport involved. I love to go there and then try to replicate to see how real MSFS is.

I’d like for MSFS to be able to import/export flight plans via a text string. Those would be easy to share.

Whenever I fly multiplayer with my friends, we all have to coordinate our flight plan manually but wouldn’t make sense if at least the flight plan created by the host is shared with everyone else within the group and we can all edit it?

With the Xbox release tomorrow, I find myself wondering how users on PC and Xbox will be able to fly with each other. I know there is word out there that MSFS will support multiplayer crossplay regardless of the platform (MS Store - Steam - Xbox). However, there is no word on how we can share/load saved flight plans with one another. On PC, it’s been as simple as sending the file on discord or using the internet to download the custom flight plans. For Xbox, it seems there is no definitive solution. How can users that are on different platforms share flight plans? How can users on Xbox load said flight plans? I think it would be in everyone’s best interest if there was a system implemented directly into the Sim to get this accomplished. You could add your friends to a list and be able to text (and maybe even voice) chat with them, as well as send the flight plan files to and from using this chat system. I sincerely hope that the team for MSFS has thought about this, but if not I am giving my two cents in hopes for a better crossplay experience.

I would imagine this may come later. In the curret state xbox users cannot access the community folder for example. I do wonder though whether they will allow access within game to a USB device storage or something. Will be interesting to see.

yes please on xbox ,everything is payware only so the least they could do is let us download & save flight plans for bush trips so that we can enjoy & use some of our payware planes , its the navlog i want more than anything , i know i can plana route on the world map BUT thats not the same as a bush trip & theres so much stuff available on pc especially pois & even bush talk radio …something for the xbox please because im regretting buying msfs2020 on xbox

Do you ever get stuck deciding where to fly? Want to find cool airports and good scenery to fly over but not sure on the best places?

Why not a community driven Flight Plan section built into the Word Map?

Ability to save & share a Flight Plan. Should include start, finish, distance, recommended aircraft type and short description.

If you choose to fly a community created flight plan it could ask you to rate it after completing your flight. Thus helping boost fun and interesting flights to the top of the list.

Just a thought! Would help drive more engagement with the sim imo.

Hi!

I moved your topic to Wishlist as that is the proper place to request features in MSFS (don’t forget to vote for your own topic!)

Thanks, I was looking everywhere for a wishlist area. Not sure how I missed it!

Please take a look at my (free) flight planner, which has many built-in plans (as well as a simple way to build FPs from scratch and that can include most any points of interest).
