There is also a DIY option from FlightSimMaker but that might be beyond my level of expertise.
I’m interested to know how easily and reliable each of these units functions with MSFS, and what software interface is required to make it work. Build quality of the units is also a major factor in my decision; and of course price. The RSG unit is significantly more expensive than the others at $1000, with FlightSimBuilder and Nuna similar cost at around $600. The Simbay unit is slightly cheaper, but shipping from Germany to the US may be cost prohibitive.
I’m happy to consider other options not listed above if anyone has suggestions.
I was looking at going the RealSimGear option for the complete G1000 suite (PFD / MFD / Audio Panel) along with the brackets for the Alpha and Bravo controls to sit ontop of.
After debating, I was pursaded to go another route and get a pair of 15.6" WIMAXIT touch screens with vustom brackets from Stay Level Avionix. Then purchased Air Manager, and a knobster and now I have touch pannels and a dial to control The G1000 and a slew of other things depending on what aircraft I am flying.
If you are only ever going to fly a G1000 plane, then the hardware those guys offer is probably the way to go. if you want versatility and the ability to touch and manipulate screens and controls across a multitude of aircraft then you may want to look at touch panels and Air Manager.
Thanks, I’ll look into this and see it it will work for me. Currently I have a Behringer X-Touch Mini that is configured to interact with the G1000, 530/430 and standard cockpit toggle switches which is good because it offers a lot of flexibility when switching between aircraft, but not as realistic as I’d like.
The module is quality-wise as the real G1000 in a real airplane. All buttons and switches in the virtual airplane cockpit are now via hardware with the G1000, the HoneyComb Throttle, and Yoke.
Just need to build everything into a panel.
The cost is a little over 3 grand, but the $600+ dollars to ship and What ever the taxes are is way too much for a device that you can’t use to log time. Rather get a Precisions or Frasca Simulator or a real aircraft
I built my whole G1000 suite with stl and Mobiflight files from www.flightsimdiy.com The hardware purchase was cheap and the 3D print file were spot on. The switch panel came from thingiverse files.
