Options to reduce MSFS file size?

I can’t believe I’m saying this but I’m starting to run short on space on my 18-month old PC’s 1TB SSD drive. Aside from the basics, the vast majority of the space is taken up with MSFS. Wondering - is there anyway to reduce the size of the MSFS installation? Don’t tell me to delete my community folder, LOL, I’ve already parsed that down a fair amount. Just wondering if I can delete stock aircraft / challenges/ airports and any other features that I’ll never use. Any advice is much appreciated.

As a PC user, you can go into Content Manager and delete a lot of stuff. If you want,

I ran out of space on my 1 TB SSD a long time ago. You can click the button in Content Manager that looks like a bulleted list:

and that will expand all of your world updates, which have individual components you can uninstall.

One way is to move all your third party downloads to a different drive, then use add on linker to use them.

SSD’s are really cheap these days, and you can use a SATA3 SSD for all of this content.

Interesting. I’ve got an external Nvme SSD 1TB drive connected by a USB-C gen 2 port. Would this work or does it have to be an internal drive? Always assumed that an external wouldn’t work for an application like this.

Not sure what “add on linker” does, does it physically move required files onto your C drive for each session or just facilitate accessing them on the external.

you can also remove things like the Training modules, the Bush Trips and anything else you don’t use

Yes they are all in there. There is something else I removed but cant remember what it was. Just scroll down the list and dump anything you dont use.

Edit: Just remembered - Discovery Flights were something else I removed

It does not move files. It creates a symbolic link that makes it appear that the files are in the community folder. It’s really an indispensable utility for those with a PC.

This thread is about that. I manually deleted that folder several months ago and everything works great.

Fs-base-cgl

Hi, after SU9 I’ve discovered a selectable item in the Content Manager that wasn’t there before. It’s named fs-base-cgl (by Asobo) and you can delete it thus gaining 58,5 Gb (!!) of drive space, with no apparent consequences at all. Any idea what the purpose of such element is supposed to be?
