Orange Lighting Bug: Lighting Issue During Early Morning Hours (2024)

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Hello!

The game is currently experiencing a lighting issue that makes everything appear orange. I’m not sure if the problem stems from how aerosols are being processed or if it’s an issue with the clouds. I’ve been testing, and this bug seems to occur during the morning.

In this first example, I positioned myself at ESSA during a snowstorm at 11:33 local time. As you can see, it looks more like a sandstorm than a snowstorm, giving the impression of being on Mars:

However, it should look more like this other image, where I tinkered a bit with Nvidia filters:

Here’s another screenshot taken an hour later:

A different capture but without live weather, without any type of snow or precipitation and with a single cloud layer 5000 feet thick:

Interestingly, the effect seems to disappear once a certain time frame is surpassed, as we can see here:

But overall, the game looks too orange. This is only the tip of the iceberg. I hope you guys consider to eliminate this ugly orange/sepia tone from the game and give us a clear natural look instead.

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?

Yes but not related to any addons.

Yeah, actually wasn’t a MSFS feature that clouds interact with the light more realistically now? Hopefully this is a bug!

Another eye opening picture here. See the yellow fog below. Light scattering seems broken?

Glad to see I’m not the only one having this issue. Let’s hope the team can fix it in time for the next patch. Once you see this you can’t unsee it anymore. I can’t believe no one else has reported this until now.

Yeah. Developers please fix it! Another example of the wrong light scattering issue, this is taken at 14:00 hour in the UK which is experiencing very bad weather today.

In real life there would be hardly any yellow, especially at ground level and more blue or even grey colours, because the light is being absorbed by the water in the clouds.

Thank you for the bug report.

We have created an internal ticket to see if our team already has this logged, and if not they will attempt to reproduce the issue and create a new bug report. This item is now marked as feedback-logged. If there is an existing bug report or one is created, we will move this thread to bug-logged.
