OrbX Statement:
we are working on an update for Landmarks Frankfurt to be released soon. While many of the custom buildings are now directly integrated into the photogrammetry version of Frankfurt delivered with World Update 6, there are many more features specific to Landmarks Frankfurt that we want our current customers to retain and enjoy. Those include custom trains and boats, improvements to vegetation and night lighting, as well as a few POIs outside of the city.
In the meantime, please remove Landmarks Frankfurt from your Community folder as the current version is not compatible.
fix for the giant building:
Delete any rolling cache.
Delete the Content.xml file.
(AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Content.xml)
- Delete the simulator .dat files
(AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\SceneryIndexes*.dat)
The fix does work, but like from OrbX suggested I would keep it uninstalled until it gets an update. Because otherwise the buildings gonna be doubled with a slight offset:
Well. From now on do not buy any Citypack/Landmarks from Orbx ! Wait for WU. Waste of money buying from Orbx.
As per the previous post, Orbx has only withdrawn it temporarily from sale while it sorts out WU6 compatibility and adds new content
Uninstall Orbx Frankfurt City Pack and wait for an update (Orbx promised it will come soon). Since WU6, the Frankfurt city pack produces giant buildings close to EDDF.
I think it is a nice idea of ORBX, to promote their products. But I think it were better to really point out that an ORBX product is now included in Asobo photogrammetry.
Not even one news website mentioned it…
Orbx just updated this Frankfurt add-on, and after trying it, I can hardly tell the difference from the vanilla WU6 Frankfurt. The major ones are the Tower and the train station. Some static trains here and there and that’s it. This is the saddest thing Orbx has done - to give away to Asobo most of the assets of one of their add-on packs in a World Update where everyone can get it for free.
This was just a compatibility update, to solve those giant buildings.
ORBX is working now on a further update to add more handcrafted building to Frankfurt Area to satisfy their customers
I hope this is true. I much prefer bespoke buildings to photogrammetry, the ideal scenario would be payware airport quality for the whole world although obviously that will never happen.
Still, if they do add new POI’s the packs could still have value imo.
I haven’t bought any city packs yet but was tempted to get London landmarks. Flying over the photogrammetry last week, it could certainly be improved. Does anyone use the London landmarks with the photogrammetry and World Update 3 POI’s and does it enhance the experience?
