Just revisiting this again today, and I have to say it’s a very nice flyer. If you collect warbirds, this is a must have.
The poor reviews back when it came out convinced me not to buy it. But I’m a big fan of Grumman planes, particularly the warbirds. Are you playing on MSFS 2024?
Yes, 2024. Sounds are good, textures are excellent, flight model is good. It’s a little under powered, but you can tell yourself it’s cheap on gas.

It’s not the most amazing warbird in the sim, but it’s also not a piece of junk. It’s fine, and that’s okay. Get it on sale if you can - at a discount, it’s definitely reasonably priced for what you get. I’d still say it’s a little pricey at full retail, though.
I don’t fly it much. I picked it up on sale for $10 and for that I think it’s fine, but it’s not that great… Almost all the warbirds I have from other devs are better.
The liveries for the plane were horrendous when it was released and totally turned me off to the plane. Have they been fixed?
It came with only one texture, and lots of mirrored textures, so repainting was a challenge. As far as I know nothing was ever updated

I would agree.
The advertising blurb starts by describing the aircraft type, but then narrows down to its use for aerobatic display only, as this one aircraft is now used.
Looks like there are some good fan-made liveries on flightsim.to for the Avenger!

I’m flying it in 2020, and I immediately put an improvement mod on it from flight sim.to :
With the mod, the flight model is very good, correct top speed, will roll (near enough to its real roll rate of 4.5 sec allegedly), and loop. A very pleasant aircraft to fly.
(You need to replace 2 cfg files in the Orbx aircraft to implement the mod).
Without the mod : constantly altering rudder trim throughout the flight (may be realistic, I don’t know, but mildly irritating), top speed about 60% of the real top speed, ie slow, roll rate at 7.5 seconds, and no chance of looping.
Don’t know if the mod works in 2024.
But in 2020, with the mod, it is very much value for money in the sale, great fun to fly.
