Out of votes

You’re only Trust Level 1, you are limited to 10 votes. You can find out more about trust levels, their limitations and how to advance here: Trust Levels and How To Advance

Yes, same issue here - but thanks to this topic the reason is clear now. I’m still used to the old system were we had 10.000 votes or so available regardless of the trust level.

Sorry but I’m a user from mfs 95, and a year here, it’s funny that I only be a trust level 1 xDDD
Why? why I don’t have much time to write many post?

You have many issues with your sim so we need many votes to participate in the improvement of sim. Logic, do not?

Thanks for clarifying the vote limit policy.
Makes sense from a spam policy indeed!

Hi @Jummivana I’m not sure if there are an issue with release votes from closed topics

Well, at least I know why can’t vote right now. I’ve met all of the criteria for TL2 except that I only have 7 posts right now so here you go! :upside_down_face:

I was also surprised to see that after nearly a year of flying with the sim, I was not trusted enough to vote for a bug I also see. However, I can also understand the spam policy.

The Trust Level System has nothing to do with Flight Simulator experience, it is a system implemented within Discourse, the open-source software that these forums run on.

The idea is to sandbox newer users to the community to make sure they don’t cause problems, and/or stop them from getting into trouble.

Unfortunately, the requirements to “level up” as it were, are somewhat arbitrary. They have been relaxed on this forum since the forums were made public, but people can still fall foul of requirements. From what I can see, in your case, it looks like you might only need to go and post a reply on one more topic (see below).

I’m obviously not Jayne, but from a technical standpoint on how the plugin works…

You’re vote was left on that topic when it was closed, and you can still remove it, but you shouldn’t have to. The voting plugin only counts topics that are open that you’ve voted on against your voting limit.

So go make some decent post in a few more topics :stuck_out_tongue:

In the future, can you please announce when you’re changing the rules of the forum?

The voting policy was one way for a year, then it changed and nobody knew about it, including some of the moderators.

Until we reach a point where each update does not halt the entire simulator with countless bugs the old vote system is needed.

I understood it wrong. So the vote is released from closed topic to invisible count but still in Vote option of topic. Ok!

About topics, is confusing to me. It say “Reply to at least 8 topics”, Different topics right, but we must count manually the post created (It should be called topic replies or viceversa, use two different names to same thing may be confusing for people who don’t usually use forums) and subtract replies from the same topic.
Same with votes, we must count the votes by hand and subtract the closed topics.

Once you understand it, you have no more difficulty than counting if you don’t have many . But at first it is not very intuitive.
Thanks!

I’m also out of votes. I deleted almost all votes from the past and still I can’t vote.

You’re well over the 10 vote limit: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/u/mhron/activity/votes. - If it were me, I would do one of two things:

  • Remove my votes from all of the topics in the Bugs and Issues archive category (it has the grey square next to it)

    or;

  • Earn Trust Level 2. - Looking at your public forum profile, you probably need to post in three different topics, and then you should get bumped to TL2 which from what Jayne was saying above removes your voting restriction.

It also gives you the ability to flag posts, topics, and “ignore” (block) users.

I’m very unhappy how this forum runs sometimes, not just performance wise in the browser, but also regarding a few other things that I’m not going to address here, I still wanna be able to post stuff  But yes, what you mentioned is one of those annoying and unnecessary things with no real meaning and just seems to overcomplicate everything for the sake of it.

Thanks. I’ve check my profile and realized that I’m missing one post to Level 2. Now I can vote again.

What a ridiculous arbitrary system! I’ve spent ages trying to remove votes on closed topics to now find here they don’t count anyway - thanks for hiding that away  Also I can’t find my “trust level” so no idea how many votes I actually am entitled to. Why can’t the system just say what my vote limit actually is in the pop-up dialogue box? This is infuriating given it potentially shapes future development on the simulator. But presumably if I keep posting about my trust level will increase…

EDIT: Apparently I am “Basic” it says on my profile (I believe that meanst TL1, why do you have to change the nomenclature?). Also, if I started calling people “basic” I think I’d get punched…

I can’t work out why I’m not on unlimited votes as per TL2. I have:

  • 80 days visited
  • 7h read time
  • 214 topics viewed
  • 4.3k posts read
  • 29 likes given
  • 8 posts created
  • 4 likes received

Now where else can I post pointlessly to get this stupid TL2 nonsense? Literally being made to spam to be able to participate in the community properly.

In order to advance to Trust Level 2 (TL2) - Active Member, you must:

It’s like they got the same person who built the sim’s update system to configure the forum.

Especially when merged threads cannot carry over the vote count, meaning votes are lost, again making the whole voting system fairly pointless.

This forum software is good in places, but needs a lot of TLC (like the Sim!)

Tip: if you can’t vote, kick the topic, by putting a submit “I agree, I’ve seen it too” or something . That will help !
