Overview List: Making Career mode more interactive (list continuously filled with community wishes)

We feel like we could really get a lot more out of career mode with the following improvements:

  • make ATC optional, so we can use e.g. Vatsim to fly your missions (and improve ATC to match the missions better, there are some weird interactions sometimes…)
  • enable Multiplayer traffic to make it feel more alive or allow tools like BeyondATC to replace default ATC & Live Traffic
  • with Multiplayer enabled make it possible to add friends to your company and let them fly for you so you can, together with them, earn credits for purchasing more aircraft to add to the fleet
  • enable the option to fly missions with live weather & time earlier or even from the start (i know that you want to help “newbies” get into the missions easier but it really takes the fun out of the first 15 missions to just be able to fly braindead with good weather at ISA conditions all the time, especially if you are experienced already… or make weather more challenging than calm winds
  • Add some guidance of how to improve in certain missions (sometimes you get a comment that the flight could have gone better, but you cannot find any tips of how to improve your flight, like the skydiving rotation or how to drop the banner at banner towing, etc)
  • add the option to transfer your plane (within your own company) by flying it manually to another airport instead of paying the credits and letting it be flown there by magic, of course you still have to pay for fuel etc.
  • Advanced Certifications: Implement some parts of the training subjects into the Exams (Example: Slowflight, Steep Turns, Stalls)… I was pleasently surprised by the Engine Failure on the Multi Engine Rating but it is quite lame until then to just fly Traffic Patterns as an Exam…
  • Add the Replay Tool also for Career Mode
  • Add a Filter to search for specific missions (by job and/or airplane type)
  • to be continued…

You may consider most of the improvements above as a reason to create a “Pro” Mode enabling experienced simmers to earn more XP & money while also doing more by themselves (fuel planning, etc). For the people that want the light experience the career as it is right now is probably pretty fine!

This list is meant to be filled by more community wishes that are adressed as a comment under this post, so feel free to add your thoughts.
I will try to implement them in a good overviewable way.

Make it multiplayer compatible.
You can create an airline and invite friends to join.
They do flights for your airline and earn credits as well. It will fill the airline credit account so that the airline can afford aircraft by this. These aircraft can be used by everyone.

But let’s honest. The career mode is already cooked. A little bug fixing here and there and it’s done. Unless they release a career DLC for that specific wish it will never happen in 2024.

Love that idea!
I still think that they can implement some new features since they do not mean to re-create the whole mode but “just” switch some settings On & Off or add some lines of code
Of course it would be nicer to have the Career Mode being able to be edited by 3rd party Devs… but I guess that won’t be possible

Add two different modes. Casual mode and Pro mode. Casual mode would be just what it is now. Pro mode takes off all scripted stuff like ATC etc. and makes you do everything from fuel to weight and balance. The upside is you make a lot more XP and money from Pro mode.

The career mode is nice for flying the 172 from one spot to the next but as you progress through it you slowly start to realize how undercooked it it.

What we really want in Flight Simulator 2024 (besides all the bug fixes) is multiplayer in Career Mode! Players should be able to fly together in a shared world, just like in Free Flight mode. It would also be great if players could work for another player’s airline or have real players working for their own company. Custom liveries that can be created and then seen by others would also be fantastic.

The money system is crucial as well. Players should be kept engaged by earning credits, with the opportunity to buy more than just new licenses. A small extra section for this in the Marketplace would be great. This way, we stay motivated to work and can use our credits in a more versatile way. It would also be nice if the Career Mode level was shown alongside player names next to the aircraft, but that’s just a small detail.

im on your side and my own topic was added as a comment here thank you moderator thats good. I think working for someones Airline or vice versa would be great. Own Liveries and Multiplayer options just like in free flight. Very important i guess is also, that we can use the credits more. So more things to buy than just a new license. But in general, i like the career mode.

Im ok with waiting since the career mode is good (beside the countless bugs & the voices). But a Multiplayer has to be done soon. I mean…we are nearly in 2025 not in 2005…This will make Gamers addicted. More use fore credits (buy planes for ex., Liveries, things you can only get for this Token) would also be supercool. :star_struck:

I agree besides the bugs I’m really looking forward to if it is coming to the game the multiplayer aspects in company’s in the career mode it would keep the player numbers up and i personally like the idea of atc but the issue is half the calls they make don’t pertain to the mission and it’s like u can push a button and respond. It still is fun i know it’s just starting and for what it is and how new it is it’s understandable on why it’s like this but definitely improvements im sure are to come and I do agree with the different difficulties. I’ve play msfs for awhile and I kinda know the ins and outs for the aircraft ( without the bugs lol) and I would love it to be more challenging but overall besides the bugs and the rediculous penalties I receive for overspeeding my flaps when I taxi it’s great

I love the new career mode, and i see excellend scope and potential in it! I had a crazy idea that I think would be amazing.

Since we have the ability to create companies and have entire fleets and since multiplayer is a huge thing in this game. Why not have the ability to employ your friends who maybe just starting out?

For example: i own both a cargo company and a flight seeing company. The Flight seeing company only needs minimal requirements, so if i have a friend who isnjust starting out, he can fly for me, get paid as well as earn me some passive income?

Live weather in career mode. Please
Weather conditions will undoubtedly influence our choice of missions, forcing us to fly where we weren’t even thinking of going.
More fun ahead

Filter missions by job and/or airplane type to the list please

This one is huge

Done and done.
Got updated accordingly

I also highlighted the key words to keep a good overview of the list for every new reader.

Another couple of ideas, that might even be rather easy to implement (no 3D modeling required, just “logical” code/menu sruff) These ideas would work as a package:

  1. Scrap passive income as it is now.
  2. Entirely change the way missions are picked up for cargo, charter and passengers. For medevac or rescue missions it makes sense to have them pop up on the world map as they do now. For the mssion types listed above however, there should be a quantity to transport to different destinations at each airport. For example, if I’m at LAX, it should have a screen that tells me there are x-number of VIP looking go get to destinations y, and z. Same for normal passengers and cargo. We then select to transport a selected amount of passengers and/or cargo (yes, why not fill up a passenger flight with a bit of cargo if there is space?) to said destination via our own created flightplan.
  3. There should be groups of passengers or cargo, so I can’t just transport 10 lb of a 100lb shipment. I also can’t just take half a family on my last empty seats and leave the rest behind. For each of these groups of cargo or passengers there is a deadline indicating when they need to be at their destination. If a deadline is missed, you pay a penalty. If the deadline allows it, you can however load up cargo/passengers to multiple destinations and fly to multiple airports in succession. For example, if I’m at LAX I can load up cargo to both San Francisco and Seattle and can then stop at SF on my way to Seattle.
  4. Payment would work by distance the unit had to be flown directly from it’s origin to it’s destination. If you reroute to a third airport in between, that’s your cost to cover. I could even imagine a slight payment reduction if passengers are not flown to their destination directly.
  5. Now we have a flexible system for missions that allows for implementation of the most important step: Routes. There will be a number of passengers wanting to get from LAX to San Francisco each day. you can rent these routes and then start flying them back and forth. But why add routes if the system is so flexible anyways you might ask?
  6. Now we get to work on passive income again: We can now choose to employ pilots and flight attendants that have different attributes for different salaries. We can then use these employees on our routes. Better employees will offer better service and improve our public image, making passengers more likely to chose to fly routes with us. A worse pilot may lead to higher maintenance cost on our planes. Using too many planes on the same route leads to selling less tickets per flight

In my opinion this system would catapult career mode to a whole new dimension of simultion. We would actually get the addictive factor of wanting to scale up our airline and make decisions for it. This, in combination with more ways to spend money (maybe airliner interiors that affect the public image?) would be so cool!

This would also increase the accountability: If you (or your cheap pilot) crashes the plane, you not only pay for replacement/maintenance, you also pay in the long run via decreased ticket sales on your routes due to bad reputation of your airline.
