PA-28R Arrow III from Just Flight

I’m so glad the icing effects have been added.
I was flying through Norway today, -2C outside, humid so windows quickly covered with a layer of frost / ice.
Although I am flying in VR, I did not manage to wipe the windows with my hand.
I tried to use the Heater knob + FAN (HI) lever, but it didn’t work.
Has anyone had a problem with that and managed to defrost the windows ???

No way to defrost windows. The heater isn’t for that purpose and the aircraft is not rated to operate in known icing conditions.
The only way for you is to descend to warmer altitude (if possible) or use the Developer mode to turn down the icing again.

Yes, there was a “missing” line in the old lights mod, or rather an extra line that JF added to their systems.cfg. Oddly enough its for the 530!

circuit.25 = Type:CIRCUIT_GPS:2 #Connections:bus.2# Power:10, 15, 10.0# Name:AS530 ; AS530 30W

Funny that. :wink:

There were quite a few changes in the systems.cfg, they added circuit breakers and adjusted some other aspects which are also in that file.
Unfortunately I cannot create a mod with only the lights contained, I always have to provide the full systems.cfg which contains all of these settings. But I try to keep it up to date whenever JF releases an update. You just have to remember to update the mod.

For my money, this is just about the best GA plane at the moment. It’s not the fastest, not the prettiest, but its just so much fun to fly.

You can assign a key to the “Toggle Windshield De-ice” function in the “Controls” section (by default it is not assigned to anything.)

Once you do this you can use the assigned to key to toggle the window defroster. It will clear the windshield pretty quickly and keep it clear. It doesn’t turn on any other de-icing function, just the windshield.

My compass is stuck on North. Anyone else have this bug? (v0.2.0)

Yeah and that’s the issue. The rest of the aircraft will still ice up and eventually stall, despite icing being set to visual-only.
There is no working solution apart from going to the developer mode whenever you pick up ice and pull the slider to the left.

Speaking of compass, I noticed it on the group flight earlier, and just now. When banking I can see the magnetic compass will rapidly turn in that direction, almost a whole revolution.

I don’t remember it doing that in 0.1.

I also have that juddering, and this is my current airspeed, at 1000ft. Its very noticeable if you zoom in.

The juddering is caused by my “fake” AP ALT mode, driven by my Logitech panel. It happen when I enable ALT hold. Turn that off, and the juddering stops.

I used the hidden clickspot for ALT HOLD as well, so seems like an issue with that then. I was also below the yellow range on IAS, so shouldn’t be overspeed or anything.
If you drop the speed, the camera gets steady again.

And I noticed the compass in the center column as well, going wild for me whenever i banked. Not sure what’s wrong with it but i don’t care :smiley:
Didn’t notice that before the update either…

I noticed that today. Never noticed it before. I checked the frame rate to make sure it’s not graphics related, but I was at 35-38 FPS, so this shouldn’t have been happening. It’s nauseating a bit.

Quite the opposite for me.. The 2.0 version of the plane has superior framerate and is butter smooth. Engine sounds and feels just exactly like the real one (my memory on that is 20 years old, so … )

Anyhow, other than the stuck compass, the v2 plane seems pretty dang good.

I´ve noticed that I don´t get any flight marshallers when I request taxi to parking. Went to the .cfg file of the plane and noticed that the [SERVICES] category is missing. Here´s the one from the cessna 152 plane:

[SERVICES]
FUELTRUCK = 1
BAGGAGE_LOADER = 0
CATERING_TRUCK = 0
BOARDING_RAMP = 0
GROUND_POWER_UNIT = 0
PUSHBACK = 0
SMALL_PUSHBACK = 1
MARSHALLER = 1
JETWAY = 0

Anyone knows why the piper doesn´t have this?

I copied that block in myself earlier.

To be honest I have never landed anywhere in a real life light plane that offers pushback or a fuel truck :smiley:

In fact it is often more a case of ring the guy who has the keys to the shed with the fuel drums and wait half an hour till he turns up.

It is not a framerate issue. The fps are fine but the outside image is jittering.

Yeah, I actually am annoyed by the heavy equipment that you always look at spawning in a small aircraft in the GA area.
It’s more realistic to have none of it and if you need fuel, you just taxi to the fueling station.

One more thing, the changelog says:

CDI on NAV/OBS 1 now responds correctly to GPS course

When flying with GPS route, the CDI works fine but the course (heading of the CDI needle/arrow) still needs to be manually adjusted. Is that correct due to the hard-linked CRS-knob to the CDI needle?

I suppose that’s the benefit of that section. You can decide what ground services you want to see per plane. I like having the Marshall guiding me in. And you can turn the other feature on or off as desired, though I’ve never tried turning some of the airliner specific ones on for smaller planes. The catering truck sounds like it could be fun. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I believe the TAS indicator on the ASI is incorrect. As you can see below, I have it set correctly for 12,500 at 29.92 and -15C, and it’s displaying a TAS of about 140 when the EFB is showing 126.
