As a big fan of Deadliest Catch it was cool to see a payware airport for Dutch Harbor, there was a decent freeware option around earlier but it doesn’t seem to be on flightsim.to any longer.
It’s an Orbx in-house production, created by the same developer who made Skiathos, Van Nuys etc.
Overall, I think it’s a great improvement, as it includes lot of updates to the whole Dutch Harbor area, with buildings, docks etc, in addition to the airport.
Pros:
- Great level of details, making the airport feel alive (people, ground clutter etc)
- Lot of work done to Dutch Harbor, to include docks, ships, cranes and custom buildings, scope of the area is quite extensive. Larger ships look great!
- If getting it through Orbx, you can turn on and off the static airplane to your preference
- No performance issues for me (PC)
Cons:
- Given the small size of the airport, I definitely think an interior could’ve been made
- Lower texture resolutions than I prefer, it’s fair on buildings further away but could be improved on the airport buildings
- Smaller fishing vessels are generic and of quite low quality, don’t expect custom models on those
At least in one place I also noticed an issue if you have Mamudesign Marinas, but I would say it’s a minor problem overall.
