Passenger and Wing View

Is there a way to set a cabin view, or a wing view whilst in VR? I can toggle outside and inside the cockpit, but that is it. I haven’t located any options.

No, not by default with the majority of planes.
But it can be done thankfully, usually via:

  1. If you can use your arrow keys to move into the cabin, you can then save a custom camera view at your desired location (I think it might be Control + 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.). To then access those views, it’s Alt + 1, 2, 3, 4 etc. Many aircraft prevent this due to the virtual walls that stop you moving beyond the plane.

  2. If you can’t use the arrow keys to move into the cabin, you need to modify the camera.cfg file (per plane). There are instructional videos on YouTube for how to do this (lookup: MSFS custom camera views). Essentially all it does is temporarily move the default cockpit camera location into the cabin and then you’re free to move around. It’s very easy, and then you essentially follow the same process of saving camera views. Just be sure to put the default camera view back to its original value when finished, otherwise you’ll find yourself trying to fly the plane from a passenger seat :slightly_smiling_face:

  3. A third option, and it’s the path I took - a person made a very helpful mod on flightsim.to that contains custom views for heaps of planes. This is the path I followed after I got tired of editing cfg files. It’s not always perfect in VR because the saved location is usually oriented for desktop users, but you can simply re-save any view you don’t like (https://flightsim.to/file/21684/custom-cameras-and-views-for-almost-every-airplane).

Cheers,

Thanks a lot. i will try option 3.

You can also use the showcase option under the camera toolbar and select one of the external views.
Some planes have like 13 views. Make sure to choose a passenger view in 2d mode.
Then switch back into cockpit mode and then go into VR mode.

You can now toggle between cockpit and passenger view inside VR with the camera tool

On a side note: By pure chance my couch in the other room is situated just above the wing of most planes.
After setting the autopilot, I sometimes just go lie on the couch drinking a cup of coffee with a straw, enjoying the view.
