Patch2 is coming?

second this question

If I’m doing my sums right, the 10th day would fall on a Sunday, which probably alongside Saturday, might be unlikely.

We just need to hope that they didn’t start the clock ticking the day after the announcement, on the 10th, as that would make it next Monday.

if you look better at Sept 10th development update
NEXT UPDATE – 09.17

Hopefully today, so I can ponder if I buy MSFS or not. 17th is my last day of gamepass.

Doesn’t that just mean there will be another Developer Update blog post? Those have been weekly since the game launched. Doesn’t necessarily mean that’s the date the patch will be distributed.

Lol yes you are correct.

Yes, apparently MS/Asobo call those Thursday briefings ā€œupdatesā€ and the actual software updates ā€œpatchesā€. The English language can apparently be very confusing.

Its unlikely that they release a patch on a friday or weekend. So my guess is it will come today or tomorrow and if not they will communicate the release date in the weekly dev update tomorrow.

Agreed, I’m thinking it’s tomorrow evening but it really depends if their QA testing went well.

Based on the assumption that Updates need to be actually installed when the program is 1st started.

The text ā€˜Relaunch the game to update’ is very unclear and open to many interpretations.

I assume when the Game launches, it checks for updates. ?

If so, maybe the message should say something like ā€œUpdates will self install next time the Game is launchedā€ while displaying what those updates are.

Then, when you Re-launch, I would assume it installs those updates.
It then probably check to see if there are any additional updates.

If there are, it displays the previous message,

If there are no additional updates, it should may display something like "MFSF 2020 is up to date.

Then again – does it really matter – The Sim effectively automatically keeps itself updated each time you run it – so no need to stress over it.

Like Windows 10 – Automatic Updates

The only stress is whether the forced automatic update will cause a new serious issue, making the program not run ( Not unheard of for Windows 10 !!)

That’s a developer update, not a patch release, as far as I know.

A sunday ?? I don’t think.

Well the leader boards are getting swiped today as part of maintenance…so its soon!

Hehehe not at home right now but someone over Discord said servers are down, so it might be coming soon. Woohoo!!

I’m going to assume, since software development and fixes always take longer than you anticipate, even if you allow for it taking longer than you anticipate, that the patch won’t come out before Monday at the earliest.

I’ll be happy if I’m wrong. :grinning:

Was the issue you had that none of your windows app would launch anymore? For example, my calculator wouldn’t even launch anymore…

Thankfully resetting my Windows install fixed it… Though this didn’t happen after the first patch. Just randomly over the weekend… no idea what changed. :man_shrugging:t3:
