I did some testing, and I found a pattern that happens about half the time before the game does a random CtD.
I’ll be flying alone fine, and then suddenly the view from the cockpit will jump to a random spot without me touching anything. Sometimes I can reset the view with the mouse/joystick hi-hat, but sometime I can’t. It’ll just stay focused on the same spot, but the game is still flying fine at that moment.
Whether I can or can’t reset the view doesn’t really matter because 10-15 seconds later the game crashes. So far, this has happened on my last 2 flights, but it’s happened 3 times total. All crashes happen 15-30 minutes into a flight.
Not sure if anyone else notices this, but I thought I’d throw it out there to see if anyone else notices this. Running the latest drivers & updates.
I ve only CTD once but from what ive read try turning mp traffic off… I think there is bleed over from other players, switches random switching on thier own etc and turning off mp seems to help…
Also I ran “repair” from the apps menu in windows and that solved some performance issue for me , not sure thats applicable but it might help.
Mmmh this doesn’t match the CTDs I’m having unfortunately.
Every time I have a crash to desktop it’s normally me looking straight ahead, and the view point is fully stable because I’m either on descent or final due to the fact that the crash seem to happen around 1 hour in. looking straight at the runway.
I recall reading the same thing. I flew last night with mp traffic off, and Azure text-to-speech off as well. It was the first time I’ve had a complete IFR flight; all other attempts have crashed, some fours hours deep into the flight.
The Azure problem is a Known Issue; the mp traffic may be as well, but so far so good for me.
I’ve seen this a few times, and once or twice managed to get it to recover. It happened earlier today, and caused a CTD as I was testing the issue of flights not getting logged.
My view locked to the forward right diagonal. My hat switch for views just made it twitch. After a few attempts to reset my view, it crashed.
It looks like if you persist fiddling with it, it causes the crash. I don’t remember what I did when I managed to correct it. External cameras didn’t work.
If you dont want to turn off multiplayer, I would recommend at the very least using “generic models for multiplayer”. I have noticed that the system seems much more stable when there arent planes of your exact same model in the sky with you and you are not loading everyone’s detailed liveries.
I’ve noticed this as well. My camera views will start switching around quite randomly. Then the whole sim starts to stutter and crashes to desktop.|
Had it happen 2 times today. First was in the TBM, about 1 hours into a 90 min flight. I was having some weirdness with my engine in flight where it shut itself down for reasons unknown. Then the views started shifting around uncontrollably. Then CTD.
The second was in the C172 G1000. I was about 40 minutes into a 1 hour flight. This crash was peceeded by a strike from the " cockpit poltergeist". Light switches starting turning on and off. My mixture starting adjusting itself, parking brake went on. Then my MFD shut down. Once all that was over, the view bug started, then CTD.
I don’t know if the cockpit poltergeist and the view bug / crash are related. I just had both happen in series in both my flights.
Same exact symptoms for me - jumps up diagonally to the right. When it happened yesterday, I didn’t touch anything as I thought fiddling with it caused the crash, but it didn’t matter. It still crashed.
When I get a crash in this situation, my logbook shows the airport I took off from and then says my flight ended near airport XYZ.
Had two crashes because of this on the Squirrel group flight. No idea what triggers it, but I suspect it’s a variant of the multiplayer traffic blank avionics screen bug.
I don’t think multiplayer, live traffic or AI traffic has anything to do with it. I’ve been playing without any traffic at all for the last serveral days. It’s lonely up there all by myself, but these issues still occur just as frequently as if traffic was enabled. For me, it’s more about how long the sim has been running. The longer it runs, the more frequent and more severe these issues become.
I had three CTD yesterday in less than 90 minutes, so after starting each time, couldn’t have been running more than 20-25 minutes each time, allowing for starting the game from the desktop and loading up a flight.
