Pause doesn't pause

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

Pause doesn’t pause the time goes by. Just pause for a longer period of time then couple of minutes and once you came back to the game you just find out it’s middle of the night. This is for both the active pause and the main that shows flight summary and possibility to quit the flight or restart

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?

No, but the problem was even before I put something in the Community folder

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

Every single time

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Start any mission and start flight
  2. Pause the game
  3. Just leave it for couple of hours paused
  4. After coming back you find out everything is dark because it’s middle of the night.

FS2020 does exactly the same, from its launch, and the only way to stop the game for that, was via the Esc button or via a pause and/or pause at top of descent features in third party aircraft.

Maybe they don’t see it as a bug or maybe they need a little more time to fix it?

Sounds to me like you are using active pause and that is how it is intended to work. I do not recall having ever used it as I do not feel the need to.

The impression I get is that it is really intended to be used briefly so the user can pause the flight to give themselves a few moments but still interact with the aircraft systems. e.g. during high workload moments where in RL you would likely have a co-pilot. Situations like running through checklist during landing phases or emergency situations perhaps. Or likewise allow simmers with less experience to take a moment to understand a situation and interact with their aircraft in a paused situation.

If you really need to “pause” the whole sim then hit the Escape key to pull up the menu, the sim as far as far as I know is then inactive with everything pauses.

In short use active pause to freeze the situation and actively still be able to interact with the aircraft. Really just for a few seconds.
If you need to step away from the sim to answer the phone, door etc. and may be gone for minutes you may want to hit escape to completely pause the sim. Unless of course you are using autopilot and you know everything is going to be fine on it’s own.

Yes, I know that, but the “Escape” pause acts excactly the same and it should not. In MSFS 2020 was excactly the same, only “Pause on top of decent” within FlyByWire A32nx acted as it should, but this is 3rd party addon aircraft and it’s irrelevant to the whole point of the topic.
Pause have to pause everything when you have to go for a while and this is supposed to allow you to resume excactly where you left. Active pause is for a moment and allows to interact with the game in the mean time. So the fact that the pause doesn’t what is supposed to do means that this is broken (and in case of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024 it’s broken by design). If I was strictly using the Active Pause for the purpose it’s not designed for then this is the intended outcome, but while I’m taking about the main pause that is supposed not to act this way by the very definition that means it’s completely broken and doesn’t work at all and that means this is a bug that needs to be fixed.
