I have all the licenses including the night flight license. Where are the missions for that? I’m level 182 and haven’t seen a single night flight yet.

You have to bind a button to Zulu time mate.
Go to controls, search 'Zulu" then bind a button to minutes and hours.
It sets the time to utc (I think)
Its a beautiful thing

Pls dont forget to vote for your own reports.

-edit:-
i will try it with my PC-12 tonight on XBox….

• Yes, although I am on the beta so night flights are standard.

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• As soon as I retract the landing gear on take-off on a night flight (the landing lights are on the gear on the PC-12) I get a penalty for no landing lights.
On landing, I advise the destination airport of my position via the ATC panel and then get another penalty for not having my landing lights on. Only at this point does the mission steps tell me to lower the landing gear, which house my landing lights (which were switched on). So it’s all out of whack. Then to cap it off my co-pilot tells me ‘we forgot to retract the landing gear’ which is mad to say it’s been retracted for 4 hours and I’ve just lowered it.

This sums it up, pretty stupid amateur error but knock me from an S to and A. I guess no more night flight missions in the PC-12 till this is fixed when???.

I just got the same penalty yesterday after contacting the destination airport. Landing lights were switched on since going below FL100, but gear was of course not yet lowered at that point. Also, why can’t I vote for this bug? Is it not activated for this thread, or is it missing since the forum update?

The only way around it that ive found is to lower the landing gear just above FL100.
Seems stupid.. but it stops the penalties.

As the penalty is given directly after contacting the destination airport, it would suffice to lower the gear just before that. I was under VFR so already near the destination, don’t know when it happens under IFR.

The problem seems to be that the landing lights actually switch off when the landing gear is raised. I assume this is an error in the model?

Does this issue still exist in SU3?

With the PC12 doing night missions getting landing light aviator failure, this is because the landing lights are on the landing gear which are hidden with landing gear retracted.

Same issue, landing/taxi light switches in the on position, gear retracted, penalty.

same here

in flight landing light malfunction when flying on cruise altitude with landing light off. Got penalty for this. After calling ATC for landing clearance got penalty for not having landing light.
After switch gear down landing light was working again

the landing gear up on ground makes the landinglight fail

I flew two missions in the PC-12 just now. Got told off for no landing lights in the first, which I admit I got wrong because I skipped to descent and forgot to turn them on. So I went and flew another, proper cargo flight without skipping, complete procedure and everything. Landing lights on. Got pinged anyway - I’m convinced this is a bug now. My lights are on and good.

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?
• Yes, as soon as the mission steps are asking for bringing the landing gear down on a night landing, the penalty is applied. Which makes from my point of view not really sense for two reasons

  • there is no point to have the landing light on, as they are not visible on the PC12 as long as the landing gear is up
  • it is hard to understand why the landing gear should be down at exact this moment when the mission steps are asking for it (sometimes it is 10 miles before landing, sometimes it is just 2 miles before landing)

• Yes.

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:

• The Pilatus PC-12 has its landing lights on its landing gear, which means the landing lights can be ON only when the landing gear is lowered, which happens on final. However, the missions expect the landing lights to be on much earlier, giving us an “Aviator performance: No landing light at night landing” penalty which is completely erroneous.
