PC 12 beta range issue

Hello flight simmers. I have a question about the throttle lever of the Pilatus PC 12. As it can be seen in the picture, there are a couple of zones where it operates. One of the zone which caught my interest and led me to confusion is the zone below the idle notch. In this area there are 3 zones, 2 unmarked and 1 with the “reverse” label on it. When moving the throttle lever below the idle notch, the propeller enters the “reverse” mode. The question is: How do I use these positions in order to taxi without riding the brakes and without going into reverse, cause this airplane catches too much speed very fast. Cheers.

I think we all just ride the breaks in it :man_shrugging:t2:

Yup. Also inertial separators. Anything to reduce the engine power a bit helps.

Absolutely not. Use beta like in all other turboprops.

that would be ideal if the beta ranges worked. most end up stopping the aircraft and it’ll start backing up verses just slowing down. IRL yes use beta range and not the brakes to manage taxi speed, but the sim isn’t modeled right for that.

the only plane that actually seems to work in the CL-415

Found that Cessna 208 and Kingair 350 have functional beta ranges as well.

Figures the 2 I don’t fly lol

Works nicely in the SWS PC-12 :ok_hand:

Yes, turboprop simulation has always been flawed in MSFS.

Yea I mainly fly the SWS PC12, SWS Kodiak 100 and the FFX Avanti, really the only default turboprop I fly is the King Air 90.

Me too :ok_hand:
Love the SWS PC-12 and Kodiak.

The standard game pc12 even at idle goes too fast or Everytime I put it slightly in beta I end up going backwards

Also turboprops are the thing I’m weirdly not all that practiced in as most my experience on sims is warbirds or fighter jets

Career mode has its uses for that forces into planes unfamiliar with until you learn

It doesn’t go too fast. It’s just that beta is flawed. Turboprops use beta for controlling taxispeed and to slow down after landing. I recommend the SWS PC-12 if you want a properly working beta.

Fair I need to find a good video or lesson set for a turboprob to understand them better like I said out of my depth with them a bit

It’s just the SWS pc-12 on the ground feels way too light while taxiing now. Just wish it felt like the carenado pc-12 in msfs 2024 on the ground handling & weight feel. Other than that give everything to the SWS PC-12 IMHO. Oh yeah and at least on option like sunglasses for tint or no tint. ■■■■ tint in msfs 2024 is outta control.
It’s like the engine in the SWS PC-12 lost about 500lbs upfront or something waaaaay to light up front while taxiing.

I end up running the PC-12 on idle for a few seconds until the taxi speed gets high, then bumping into the beta range until the taxi speed gets too low, alternating every few seconds. Annoying as hell, but at least I’m not riding the brakes. Of course, it’s way too easy to get distracted and suddenly you’re moving backwards… or getting penalized by career mode for overspeeding.
