I am a Pilatus PC-12 and PC-24 A&P Technician. There are a total of 4 spoilers per wing on the PC-24. Two large “ground spoilers” on the inboard position of the wing, and 2 smaller “Multifunction or MFS” spoilers nearing the aileron on the wing. Only the outboard most MFS assists in rolling the aircraft during rapid/ severe roll changes in flight. Currently both of the ground spoilers assist to roll the aircraft in the simulator during roll maneuvers. This is incorrect.
The inboard MFS is the only spoiler that operates when you operate the air brake lever. When the aircraft touches down with throttles at idle and the weight on wheel sensors sense ground contact, all 4 of the spoilers on each wing automatically extend and remain up until the throttles are moved immediately forward from idle. (This is due to the aircraft being certified for single pilot operations. If the need for a go around occurs, advancing the throttles forward automatically retract the spoilers to keep the workload light for the pilot)
I’ve attached a video from my Pilatus repair station showing the 4 spoilers in proper operation when the aircraft lands. They extend at slightly different times for power draw reasons, but they retract all at the same time.
A additional note is that the PC-24 does NOT have any thrust reversers, it lands in braking power alone. (With an anti-skid brake system of course) I’m not sure if this is how it it is modeled in the Microsoft 2024 flight sim, but every time I teach people about the PC-24, they all assume it has them but in fact it does not. Please watch this YouTube link showing our aircraft landing and having its spoilers extend in the correct order. https://youtu.be/V-vqZgGqi78?si=ruVMWh-rtD0MQPv1
I share this information because I deeply care about these Pilatus aircraft. I’ve worked on them my entire career, and I want to assist in however I feel like I can to make this aircraft as accurate to real life as it can be. Please feel free to reach out if you have ANY technical questions on either of these aircraft. I will gladly assist you.
