PC completely crashes randomly when using MSFS2024

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

MSFS2024 randomly crashes the PC entirely. I get a 6008 error in event manager. This happened after I upgraded from 12 to 64gb of RAM. I recently upgraded my PSU to no avail.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

Intermittently but much more consistently lately.

CPU: i7-1400K
64 GB 7200 Gskill DDR 5 memory
Z790 Gigabyte Motherboard
GPU: RX 7900 XTX
Monitor = 60 Hz

FS2024:3840 x 2160
Ultra, TAA, Terrain LoD = 400, Object LoD = 900
Displaying up to 22 GB of VRAM.

Everything, Windows 11 and apps, except FS2024 run okay at
5.5 GHz and 7200.

FS2024 will not run above 6400 at 5.5 GHz.
I was getting some random CTDs and especially in Career mode.

I went to the BIOS and changed it to load the defaults.
4.8 GHz and 5600.

FS2024 runs solid now.
And I can’t tell any difference in flying.
Switching views is smooth.
Using the interface is smooth.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve set my bios to default as well. Fingers crossed

Didn’t work. I give up lol. Tried just about everything. Spent money on a new PSU. Gotta love it.

Happens to me aswell. Tried everything. Happens only in msfs 2024 so I dont think its hardware related. Event viewer indicated a problem with Intel HD graphics. Completely disabled it in BIOS. Still crashing randomly at a button press. Often when switching to outside view exactly as you describe.

I experienced quite a few bugs in the past where I spent considerable of time troubleshooting, looking for answers on the net and the forums resulting in much frustration and not much progress…

My solution, although drastic for some, is to format C: and re-install everything. It takes a few hours but you start from a clean slate… I never regretted it… food for thought… my two cents

I would at first do a re-install of Windows 11 via Windows Update.

This provides a clean copy of Windows 11 but does an in-place update and keeps your files and data.

  1. Save your Community folder.

  2. Uninstall FS2024.

  3. Update Windows
Settings, System, Recovery and then click “Fix problems
    using Windows Update”
    Takes around 30 minutes.

  4. Then install FS2024.
Takes a few minutes. (download 8 GB)

If problem still exists.

  1. Save Community folder.

  2. Uninstall FS2024.

  3. If FS2024 was installed on a non-C: drive:
Format it if only FS2024 is on the drive.
If not, delete all FS2024 folders.

If installed on C:, do nothing.

  4. Re-install Windows, a clean install, via USB.
    Windows 11 Clean Installation

  5. Install FS2024
Takes a few minutes. (download 8 GB)

  6. Replace your saved copy of the Community folder.

Mine just started after the latest update. Freezes during a flight when cruizing on auto pilot for example. Also having occassional problems loading freezes around when you get into Headquarters.

Game was fine for about 2 months after buying in march,2025. It might be the latest update they did that’s causing it. Hoping next update fixes it.

Update. Had the black screen crashes in 2024 for some time. On every flight. Often when pressing a button to go to outside view or escape button. Updated every driver I knew of. Still crashing. Finally did an uninstall and a reinstall of 2024. So far no crashes. Try it if you haven´t.

Same is hapening here, I’m also using an AMD CPU, however in my case, I use a NVidia RTX 3080ti as GPU. The only error I get in the simulator logs is the famous and quite useless 0xc0000005.

I tried basically everything, reinstalling the operating system, running in safe mode, running without any addons. I have no idea what to do except unninstall this garbage and come back to MSFS 2020.
