Hi there folks,
I’m planning to purchase MSFS 2024 soon and wanting to get some advice on upgrading my PC to achieve a decent FPS in the new sim.
My Current Setup
CPU : Ryzen 7 5700X3D
MB : B550M Steel Legend
GPU : RTX 3080 (10GB)
RAM : DDR4 8GB 3600Mhz * 4 (32GB)
Storage: NVME SSD 1TB + SSD 2TB
Desired Outcome
20~30 FPS on 4K, Middle ~ High Settings, (I fly Airliners mostly)
My budget is pretty low at the moment with around 500 AUD so the best I can do with GPU is selling the current one and getting a RTX 4070 Super (12GB), otherwise I’m considering RAM upgrade to dual channel 64GB which I’m not sure if it would bring any performance improvement…
With my current setup, I run MSFS 2020 with < High settings at 4K with 20~30FPS (No DLSS or frame gen, they don’t work with my setup somehow, brings too much stutter or even gets slower)
I’m also wondering if using Lossless Scaling would make it possible to play 2024 without an upgrade, but I heard that it doesn’t work well with too low FPS.
Also curios if there is anyone running 2024 with similar setup and getting decent FPS.
Thanks for reading and for your valued opinions in advance.

---- UPDATE ----
I was impatient so went on to buy the sim anyway without any upgrade.
To my surprise, I’m quite satisfied with my experience with the sim and will be sticking with my setup for a while unless I acquire a higher resolution monitor or VR.
I had to play around the graphics settings (a lot) to balance quality and performance
though.
If anyone is wondering, below is my sim settings.
In Sim Graphics Settings
Resolution : 3840 * 2160
Anti-aliasing : DLSS (Swapped to the latest version using DLSS Swapper)
DLSS super resolution : Auto
AMD Sharpening : 100
V-Sync : Off
NVIDIA reflex low latency : On
Advanced Settings (Start off with High Preset, only showing tweaked settings)
Off Screen Terran Pre-Caching : High
Rocks : Medium
Texture supersampling : 2x2
Water waves: Medium
Raytraced Shadows : Off
Motion Blur : Off
For me, Using DLSS and turning off the ray traced shadows proved to enhance my FPS dramatically 45~60 FPS.
With TAA, I get below 20 FPS and with RT shadows, 15, DLSS + RT shadows give around 30.
Reshade
However, DLSS with Auto Resolution makes the sim blurry as hell, to fix that I used a Reshade preset I found from flightsim.to which makes the sim look much more realistic and sharper.

Lossless Scaling
Also, I decided to give Lossless Scaling a go, and I can say that it’s the best 8AUD I’ve spent.
It makes sure that I hit 60 FPS almost always even if the actual frames drop below 30~40 making the sim so much smoother.

Hello, it’s great to hear that your pc run MSFS 2024 smoothly. However, I would like to ask if RTX 3050 8GB or 3060 8GB is good enough for the game or not.
My cpu is R5 5600, and I hope to run at high settings and maintain 30fps .
Thank you if you see this message!
For about $10 you can buy Gamepass for 1 month and try it out. Since every PC is different it’s very difficult to provide the feedback you are requesting.
Based on the limited spec info, I don’t think you’ll be able to run it on high settings at “all” times.
I’ve said it with the quote because as I played the sim bit more, I realised that there are multiple factors affecting your FPS that you may or may not be able to alleviate.
Proximity to ground
The sim’s performance varies significantly depending on your proximity to the ground and other objects
If you are in a busy area and on the ground such as London, your FPS will plummet with high TOD / LOD settings + Traffics.
As for me, I have to set the TOD around 20 when I’m on the ground to achieve 30+FPS and back to 100 + when I’m in the air.
In a better world, MSFS’s dynamic settings would take care of TOD and LOD so we get decent performance always, but unfortunately, it doesn’t.
(There’s a magical program though somewhere that I “heard” that does exactly that).
So, either using the black magic or adjusting the settings through out the stage of your flight will be necessary.
Internet Speed
The new sim is heavily reliant on your internet bandwidth since it consistently downloads the assets required to render the scenery.
This means that you need to have a decent internet download speed with low latency to expect smooth sim experience.
If not, at least you need an SSD or NVME storage to store the rolling cache so you can load the assets locally if the assets are found in the cache.
Addons
If you are wanting to run big addons such as the Ini A350 or even Fenix, do note that the performance requirement will increase generally and especially with RAM usage. (I run Fenix and struggle with 32GB RAM so will upgrade eventually)
Conclusion
Generally speaking, the sim does require more powerful CPU, GPU and RAM setup than what you have.
However, whether you will be happy with the sim’s performance or not in the end will vary greatly depending on how you optimise the settings, what your play style is (IFR, VFR, etc…) and what your expectations are.
Hope this helps.
