Performance at the expense of visual quality

Hahaha when your wife walk by all sexy n stuff, and you’re still glued to the old MSFS visuals? That tells us all what we need to know, that this last update makes us all go back to bed LOL :stuck_out_tongue:

This is no argument on my end, it is a observation that ths sim is different…word. It is not necessary to get into arguments that lead to no solution. Even with changes the brilliance of the sim is gone…hopefully not for good.

Well I’m certainly not prone to any tantrums, I can only say what I see and for me on my 3700X, 2070 Super with 32 GB of 3600Mhz ram system it now looks absolutely rubbish compared to SU4.

Washed out colours, with a very flat and grainy appearance.

Clouds look worse on Ultra now than they did on medium before.

AI buildings look like they have no anti-aliasing at all and if there are large blocks of them in the denser areas they shimmer like mad as I approach them.

Building and trees all pop in and out of view about a mile out and even worse if you pan around to look out the windows.

Just flew around Tokyo with the photogrammetry on and compared to last week when I did the same route it looks terrible.

I’ve tried to see if I can get any improvements but even with everything on Ultra and LOD at 200 it’s pretty pathetic now.

Tried reinstalling a few different versions of the Nvidia drivers, resetting everything and tweaking them again but nothing seems to help.

The only good thing about this patch for me is the new world map. I’m not even seeing that much of an fps gain and the stutter at large airports is about the same for me.

Haven’t had any CTD’s since the hotfix but then again I only had one just after SU5 update.

I might try reinstalling the whole sim tomorrow now I’m able to get my full 300Mbps download speed shpould only take a few hours

Not at all, mark my words! If MS has the final word over Asobos wishes for the best sim? Then MS will fail, and fail HARD, just as they did when MS Flight did, when MS feared they where hit in their pockets. [Fact]

Then wait until we PC Simmers Get DX12

so, when i fly in LAX High Settings, i’m getting maybe 40fps max in air, but im noticing my CPU Memory is 4.7GB/31.928GB and my GPUMem is 2.3gb/5.1gb

is this normal?

my rig: GTX 1060 6gb, Ryzen 5 3600 3.8ghz, 32gb ram.

I also get a lot of choppiness looking around anywhere i fly, I’ve tried NYC, LAX, DEN, San Fran, Boston, Philly, Austin, Miami, Seattle and a few other not city based area like Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam, Hawaii.

Yes!..and drop the mic please…HaaHaa

Yeah…that’ll go well.

I’ve looked very carefully at the pics you provided and must disagree generally. The greens are way out of kilter (luminance and saturation need to be toned down somehow - it looks like P3D), and the spots where the light is hitting the wing surfaces, as well as the clouds, are simply over-exposed. These need a ND filter of some sort (a slider would be nice) to correct them.

Well I get about 4fps more so I can run it at 40fps on full ultra but I was mostly happy with the fps I had before. I’d happily lose 10fps to get back to the same quality I had before.

I had perfectly good quality without it before, why do I have to wait in the hope that dx12 will improve anything.

Yes I have a RTX 3080 and for the first time getting +70fps on ULTRA for everything.
But it is visually not as good as before and the Just Flight Piper Arrow now very difficult to fly and a number of features not working.

They lowered the memory usage so it can run on Xbox.

As a result I have 8GB of vram unused on my video card. And scenery popping in.
So is it normal? Probably not but it seems to be intended like this.

Interesting. Well, I am sure they are aware of this issue. Guess I’ll just wait it out.

Well, I am also pretty darn sure that they knew of the issues that were about to come to us also, even before the SU5 Rollout.
Anyway, enough ranting from myself, it doesn’t help anyone. I am fairly hopefull all this will be fixed in no time, or at least, a little time.

Oh yes, same. I will just avoid most big cities and fly inland instead.

Wondering if High Settings are too much for my system tbh. 1060 might be showing its age.

Well, if even dropping system graphical fidelity just for flying at or near cities, to get the best, and then go higher for outback/bush, or even high altitudes. yes i’t a pain to constantly alter, but the best of each flying types/experiences will be the best they can be for right now, and the best there will be at each flight just for that.

I’m also wondering if the server being overloaded has something to do with performance perhaps? I might be wrong, but isn’t the game data streamed to people? Could just be tons of people on right now causing stress for servers/issues for other simmers.

Absolutely that almost certainly had an impact too! BUT… Even today my flights had massive pop issues, even after the storm.

If servers are overloaded it result in lagging and stutters in game.
