Performance Degradation with 1.14.5.0. Upgrade

Try turning off your computer’s power, unplugging it for 30 seconds and then turning it on. This solves EVERYTHING.

And if that doesn’t work. . .

Well, I actually did buy a few pounds of Tennerite a few weeks ago, so that’s definitely an option.

All I know is I never had these issues before the last update, go figure.

I notice if I put that terrain LOD slider to 25 I get slight stutters in the stutter areas after further testing. Then once outside the areas back to running like a champ. The sim looks awful however.

Sorry it didn’t work for you. Honestly, how practical is it to fly around with the LOD all the way down ? lol

I have flown at 10x without problem.

FS2020 will display a warning message that the Autopilot can not follow the increase in Sim Rate above 3x.

You were right, my friend. If Dev mode / draw on terrain is switched on before entering the flight at MHLM, then there is no issue. That’s a relief ! So it seems there is a main cause to this stuttering / fps killing, and it’s due to the way that flat terrain like runways is forced upon the rolling terrain. Now let’s wait/hope for that fix …

Exactly, seems to be a priority now with Asobo, we shall see. Thanks to everyone who has posted there concerns.

However I have a feeling Asobo knew about this at the time of releasing the last patch. Maybe they didn’t have a workaround, felt forced to release the patch and see how much time it could buy them, without saying anything. Until it blew up in their face lol.

I just can’t believe they knew nothing about it. Like they didn’t see any issues on their end while testing.

Have tried this?
It helped me. It became much smoother.

I’ll have a go at this, thanks for sharing. Nice looking Heli in that video !

I cannot read the screen and have no idea of what you are doing.

Just jumping around.

No change for me. I can 100% reproduce the issue by flying in specific areas. I highly doubt there is anything on the user end that is going to solve the issue.

For me lowering the in game settings terrain level of detail from my default of 100 down to 10 has gotten rid of most stuttering in problematic areas I have tested. I posted a post about this above few hours back. However, the sim looks awful like this, is not acceptable. I was able to regain most frames back.

I do not know. It helped me. I stopped seeing interruptions in the graphics of the processor and video.

Wow, that Mainthread looks terrible.

Can’t understand why it is pleasing to you.

My config:
ASUS ROG MAXIMUS XI GENE, Intel Core i9-9900K 3600MHz ( 5000 MHz), ROG-STRIX-RTX2080TI-O11G-GAMING , DIMM1: Kingston HyperX 32G, Dell Alienware aw3420dw

I like that everything is smooth. I made this screen at Charles de Gaulle Airport.
The weather is real, the air traffic is real, the players are real and this evening is rush hour.

Smooth is good.

My i9-9900K and GTX 1660 TI also fly smooth.

But at 14 to 24 FPS.

I want a RTX 3080 but can’t buy one at MSRP.
Will buy one when they come down to MSRP and are available.

PS,
I run my i9-9900K at 4.8 Ghz just to not stress it too much.

I still have the bug that is locational causing 2-10fps with bad stutters in same areas. This cleaned up the rest though. Made a major difference for me all around. Very smooth with an RTX3090.

I’m also plagued by these crazy stutters… Bud I just finished a flight from LSGG to LFBZ, so I basically crossed all of France in a 1h flight and had only one small stuttering over Pau. No stutters at all otherwise. It “felt” a bid less smooth than before the SU3 all in all tho but as for the numbers I was constantly around 45 - 50 FPS all on ultra (except those 30 seconds over Pau where it hit 20 or so). Can’t say if I just got lucky on this one but I guess I’ll fly a bid more around France these days.

I beg to differ. 10 fps still not great :slightly_smiling_face::slightly_smiling_face:
