The sad part is that we all have experienced the same issues and still Asobo released the darn thing without testing it! This is just insane, talking about negligence.
We “are hard at work to fix it. What’s important is that we actually find the root cause and fix it”
Does that sound to you like they have found and fixed the problem? Sounds to me like they’re still trying to find it.
Like I said, it does not sound like anything, I just dont speculate thats all, Jorg is not going to give what he knows over a simple email. Dont get me wrong I think communication has been very poor..however Jorg is being professional..like any multi billion company. If he sent a very detailed email..the community would come up with different angles and opionions. Like when PMDG released a new article so many different opinions were being thrown out..your dammed if you do and your dammed if you dont
A terrain datastream issue must be part of this overall performance degradation for sure. I was musing with a coworker who mods a lot for the game about what if it’s memory bound up in the terrain you’ve passed a long ways back. I suppose another test is to be completely offline. Not that it should be the ZOMG FIX GUYS solution. At least something to help pinpoint.
I do at times use time compression, which I’ve noticed will significantly speed up the problem, but this morning doing a real-time flight, it was the same result.
Looks like you and I will be in the same boat, fiddling with LOD to fly, just not how we used to enjoy. For now.
This is my suspicion, too. To prove it, we need somebody with a troubled high end system to “underclock” (slow down) his system. If there is a simple cause - effect link, the problem shall go away.
But high end systems are different not only in clock speed of CPU and GPU. Most have larger caches, can execute different opcodes and most important of all are Intel or AMD CPUs, Nvidia or AMD graphics cards, running the old MS-Windows version 2004 or the new version 20H2.
Yes, you are right. But “Many counselors bring wisdom”. It is easy for Asobo/Microsoft to ask simple questions like:
Is your troubled system
- Intel or AMD CPU, please give exact CPU type
- Nvidia or AMD graphics cards, please give exact graphics card type
- MS-Windows version 2004 or version 20H2, please give exact build number
These are simple questions that can hopefully narrow down the bug, specially if all have the 76T Bishop bug, but not everybody has the 100% CPU load, 15% GPU load bug.
Asobo/MICROSOFT, IF YOU ASK SIMPLE QUESTIONS, YOU GET GOOD ANSWERS. THE COMMUNITY CAN HELP. JUST ACCEPT THE HELP !
Yea - thats what I read too - and that is amazing to me if so. It is what it is - but I cant believe after over a week of trying to see what the issue is at places like 76T they dont know what the root cause is yet at least. Might be double speak for trying to push this till the next normal release cycle instead of a hotfix.
They’re working on the Xbox release. Way behind. PC is gonna wait till that’s out there.
I cannot argue with that, your right, what boils my blood is all the conspiracy theories, as if some of the community have inside information and spread what I call idle gossip. I believe there are people in the community with knowledge however there are some that think they know it all, which in my opinion is dangerous, and each to their own they can take their advice..my personal way of handling it, is waiting for Asobo to come up with a solution…people will think I am doing wrong..if I listened and acted on everyones advice on what todo with my PC…sure I would make it useless for other games and applications I use my PC for.
I’ve stopped buying any addons. Honestly, I’m not sure if this game is going to make it. I’d like to think that if I patiently wait, all will be well, maybe in 6 months after they launch the Xbox version.
But, I’m not certain now. They really seem to be in way over their heads and struggling hard. It might stay really buggy for a long time, maybe forever. After MS gets the surge in revenue from Xbox licenses, and Asobo moves on to the next project going after new revenue, I’m really really worried what we’ll be left with.
They should at least be asking for hardware information and a DXDiag on their support tickets.
There’s nothing in the support ticket template that asks for any of that.
Not a sim update, Jörg meant here the weekly dev blog update
Okay thanks for the update. From his words, they look like they couldn’t figure out what the issue is which means we will have to live with it for sometime ![]()
My thinking as well - something just doesn’t add up and I am less optimistic then I have been about the future of ongoing improvements that have been promised. Previous to this when issues arose they seemed somewhat more responsive - then faced with arguably the worst issue yet its relative crickets…Just hoping for the best at this point…
I forget that. I think it is very unprofessionell not to teach the users how to make a good problem report. We are not stupid. Today you can easily provide a how-to video about “make an attachment that the programmers can use for investigation”.
To execute dxdiag use Windows-key and R. In the “execute” popup enter “dxdiag”. You will see:
There is a “Alle Informationen speichern …” button to make a nice file to send it to Asobo/Microsoft.
A little off-topic: Lately I found the MSFS 2020 crash dump files on my computer. I assume they are helpful to investigate crash to desktop CTD. But Asobo/Microsoft did not tell us that there is such a thing. See a file manager screenshot with my crash dumps files:
So Jorg and the team are aware, the bug is big why not just roll back until they understand it instead of making us wait until they figure it out?
I don’t think you completely read my comment ![]()
“this bug affects mostly high to top end systems whose users mostly have their settings almost all the way up to high or even ultra.”
Do you consider this a high-end system:
Z-170 MB; i7-6700K; GTX 1070; 16GB RAM, built in 2016.
Sim ran great before WU-3 and SU-3 because I use moderate settings appropriate for my limited hardware, but each introduced performance problems, the worst being SU-3. Not been the same since.
IT IS NOT RELATED TO SYSTEM SPECS!
This SU3 is really messed up. Tonight I did some testing. Flying around locally in Vero Beach Florida. No great demands.
I have an I7-10700 with an RTX 2060 Super 8GB VRAM, 64GB SRAM and two NMVe M.2 drives. Not a powerhouse, but a relative decent system. A machine I just bought for this simulator.
I could not get more than 30FPS even in Low Global setting and even after turning all data off. A system that ran fine prior to SU3.
In all cases, it was limited by the Main Thread!
That has been the major problem since SU3 update. Prior to the upgrade four of my 16 Logical Processor were doing most of the work instead of a single one doing it all now.
Their load balancing logic is all messed up. How can they expect a single Logical Processor to do the bulk of the workload? Load Balancing is the biggest problem with SU3.
One take away from this testing is that overall it runs a little better when set to 30 FPS instead of 60 FPS. I find that Medium Global setting is giving me decent results. But still way worst the prior to SU3 update.
Benchmarks show that the problem still occurs when LOD is lowered from 150 to 80.
