Performance SU5 beta Xbox series X

I performed a free test flight of the LIMC LEBL SU5 with Pmdg 737 800 on Xbox Series X, and here’s what I noticed:

  1. Slight improvement in the in-flight weather, with less jagged clouds.
  2. Significant deterioration in airport detail, with gate buildings that look like windowless concrete cubes, even though the graphics setting is set to “high.”
  3. Continuous intermittent stuttering lasting 2 seconds during the approach to the destination.
  4. Perpendicular black lines on the water surfaces are still present, unresolved.
  5. Still issues with ATC, with voice overlaps and anomalies during the descent phase, with inconsistent instructions, unresolved.
    Otherwise, it works like SU4.
I haven’t tried the career mode.

When SU5 came out it was the best and smoothest gameplay since the release of the game.

But for some reason since last night and today it become laggy again.

First time today trying out Su5. Took a 2 hour flight around the Greek islands. No windows in buildings as I took off. Flight went pretty smooth. Next loaded up the 747, dreadful stutters on take off and climb then black avionics and memory low message.

I tried the LIMC LIMJ flight again with SU5, and unfortunately, the situation got even worse.
With the Pmdg Boeing 737, the autothrottle disconnected for no reason at all (never happened before with SU4).
The intermittent stutters during the approach phase are terrible. They disappear once the vor/loc and g/s are intercepted and reappear once landed.
Again, I’d like to understand what they changed because regression aside, the only difference I’ve found in the new beta is in the store graphics and nothing else, but I can’t find any correspondence with the changelog, which perhaps refers more to the PC version than the Xbox one.
They’ll surely fix it with the next releases, but it’s a bit frustrating to still have graphics issues and stutters after 15 months.
I expected them to fix the very annoying black lines on the sea, or the overlapping ATC voices with their altitude inaccuracies during descent. Maybe even some performance and frame rate improvements without losing detail.
Let’s hope so and trust in the developers’ professionalism.

Generally good flights on Xbox X with the new SU5 beta. Can’t say that I’ve seen or experienced any improvement in any way. Have noticed that airport graphics seem a bit blurrier (for longer) as they render in and blurrier in switching between internal and external views at airports. Only fly airbus, and the a320 and a350 both holding up well. Hopeful for some further / future felt, seen and experienced improvements to come.

Yep the 747 is a mess and feels like MSFS 2024 when it was released.

There are small LOD improvements, negligible but the stutters have returned which negate any new crispy LOD

The airports are now packed and littered with ramp equipment, it looks nice but has invited stutters.

The 747 gets black screens when you activate the baggage and catering trucks. CTDs in career mode. It simply can’t handle all the new bells and whistles.

Not seeing much motivation to continue beta testing, career mode improvements not very fruitful and not worth beta career which doesn’t bank progress. We need liveries, choose time of flight and heavy cert. Atleast 2 of these can’t be that hard to implement and would improve career mode so much

I understand your disappointment, and I’m also disappointed by the lack of substantial improvements.
However, even with SU4 Beta, there were regression issues for several weeks, which were eventually fixed in the final release.
I’m confident they’ll resolve them, and I’d suggest fixing the most obvious bugs I’ve already mentioned before adding features that weigh down the system.

This is the point they are adding things before fixing legacy bugs, like all the new ramp equipment when we cant even board passengers in career.

None of makes sense but yes I agree it’s the first build, maybe in the 2nd build they might actually fix the tiles in the water. There’s loads of bugged logged threads, so I anticipate alot of bug fixes this beta

SU5 flight

Xbox series x,

Peripherals: honeycomb alpha, bravo, Xbox controller, keyboard, mouse

flight plan IFR CYVR-CYKA

Aircraft: msfs2020 BlackSquare B60T

PG, multiplayer, live weather, live traffic - on

Sliders - medium

First attempt:

EFB: didn’t seem to have a full waypoint database and couldn’t add departure waypoints even if I typed them in. Exited out and tried again but the EFB would not work at all this time. Exit Sim and restart.

Second attempt:

EFB worked properly this time.

ATC was about the same as before for IFR clearance, taxi and departure. It would be great to hear the radio traffic like msfs2020 but it’s still quiet - still an emersion killer.
On departure and climb out I noticed a new strobe effect visible at the wingtips, which is a cool effect.

ATC on arrival gave new altitudes in comparison to SU4 which is interesting but still said I could use VFR to destination when it clearly wouldn’t be permitted IRL. Again, an emersion killer.

There weren’t any big issues that stand out from the normal operation of SU4 though I would say that the performance is slightly better. The cockpit loaded quickly which is an improvement from SU4.

I have a horrible feeling that the black lines in the sea are the new horizon line in mountains from 2020 and we’ll be stuck with it until they build a new engine from the ground up.

Did an hour and half flight around Madagascar, taking off from Ivato in the Beechcraft bonanza g36. All went well as I thought being a single prop, Finished flight and loaded up the same flight plan in the 777. Zero stutters and beautiful LOD, apart from windows missing. Don’t know if it was just a placebo but the sim looked more crisp and clear. Never finished flight as work beckons

Did a flight on the Series X with the inibuilds A350 and this was the greatest experience I’ve had on the Series X.

Perfect performance throughout taking off from LAX and flying over the Photogrammetry of LA at 13,000ft still seeing amazing detail from the buildings below, terrain and satellite imagery loaded in for miles and miles. Spinning the camera around none of the things off camera continually reload anymore and stay looking sharp.

Finished the flight off at inibuilds Palm Springs airport where the runway textures were all crisp and loaded in on final, not a single stutter throughout the landing process or taxiing to the gate.

Very Impressed with SU5 so far!

Once I updated MSFS 2024 on Xbox Series X, the first flight went fine, just like SU4. But since then, the performance has deteriorated. I never had so many avionics shutdowns due to low memory as I’m getting on SU5. It’s happening on 737 MAX, 787 and Inibuilds A350.

I never had black avionics and low memory warnings before. The avionics screens go black while I’m configuring my aircraft, MCDU, and other devices. I occasionally have to reconfigure the MCDU settings because they are lost.

Same here. So many more memory resource issue messages and avionics shut downs. Only happens on A350, thus far.

How did you get the A350 to launch properly, and which variant did you use? Testing both the A359 and A35K out of TNCM and EGLL I got either:

  • Memory low, resetting avionics,
  • As a result of low memory, inability to load a Simbrief flight plan as soon as the plane recovered,
  • WASM crash as soon as the avionics recovered,
  • CTD when restarting the flight,
  • or a CTD shortly after pushback.

I don’t know if the handcrafted Heathrow and Sint Maarten played their role in being performance-heavy airports, but so is LAX and the A350 performed wonderfully in SU4 out of those airports. Kinda made me hesitant to try the machine on another airport…

¯_(ツ)_/¯

Maybe I’ll take your post as a motivation to give it another shot. In any case, it’s great to hear that the A350 is working so well for you!

Just picked the A350-1000 and popped into LAX

No memory issue pop ups

No Avionics going out

And no CTD’s

I also don’t use Simbrief, might be a factor for your issues maybe! Hope it ends up working better for you!

I’m very close to picking up the A350, but the broken lights and continuous noise from pockets of the community don’t scream BUY now for me.

Plus the livery game is poor, Inibuilds needs to raise the bar for console and MP liveries. Still no A300 liveries in 2024 how does that work, do they even care?

flight plan IFR CYBL - CZBB

First flight:

Start and quit flight immediately. This is a hack to record subsequent flights in log book.

Second Flight:

Start up checklist goes without issue and clearance, taxi and departure ATC works as expected. ATIS indicated active runway was opposite of the windsock, and announced landings and departures were also on the non-active runway. Not not a huge departure from SU4, though. No lag on taxi when switching to external views.

Airport buildings have no windows, as has been reported in other SU5 threads.

Once at cruise, flying over coastal BC, the water textures still have tears or tile lines. At low altitude, the buildings looked decent and varied but no windows. Trees look awesome though.

Arrival: ATC directed arrival descent to the appropriate approach elevation with enough time to get down without pretending the airplane is a lawn dart - this is promising!

When on the ground, with only one engine shut down and rebuilding new flight plan, ATC didn’t accept new flight plan from EFB and so couldn’t get new departure clearance.

Third flight:

Parked and fly drone over CYVR. EFB displayed aircraft on the ground, arriving and departing but were not visible from the drone view. Airport and ground textures super slow to load and never fully loaded. When I went to exit, the sim CTD. Fist time this has happened for me on SU5 beta.

Conclusion:

Buildings look good but no windows. Airport textures and aircraft either didn’t load or were not visible on 3rd flight of the session. Water textures showed grid lines. CTD not great but not unexpected in beta. Logbook hack is required to record flight time in logbook. Satisfaction level: 7/10

We all seem to be experiencing different issues.

For me the only noticeable issue first two days of beta was CTDs during the first free flight immediately after submitting the flight plan via EFB (Flying A320). Each second attempt had no issues. Different airports. I have now noticed that CTDs are not happening but the sim struggles, pauses, sound crackles, graphics deteriorate immediately after submitting flight plan. Then it all comes back normal 30-60 sec later and from that point on everything is good.

I can’t really see any performance difference or improvements from SU4. I did notice trees on the hill to the east side of LSZH RWY 32 are now trees, where in SU4 these were multi-polygon 3D green structures that didn’t look anything like trees.

I’ve recently struggled (been unsuccessful) in departing from Edinburgh on a number of occasions - but have 3rd party airport addon, so that might be the problem (not problematic in SU4). I did manage to successfully depart from Glasgow (EGPF) and had no avionics or memory low issues, so perhaps try that.
